Two pitchers putting in bad impersonations of big leaguers square off tonight at 6:35 in the Bronx. Nathan Eovaldi has gone 5 innings in each of his first three starts, allowing 6 homers in 15 innings, pitching to an embarrassing 8.40 ERA. J.A. Happ has been even worse, 4 innings in each of his first 3 starts, 8.73 ERA. Something’s gotta give.

Weather is getting better. Maybe that will help. Yanks coming off a solid all-around game of good defense, timely hitting and dominant pitching from James Paxton. Expect the same lineup from Aaron Boone, unless he wants to get newcomer Mike Ford in at first base and use Luke Voit at DH.

Expect a lot of runs tonight from both sides.

We are so right-handed, it's ridiculous. Looking forward to Eovaldi mowing us down for eight innings again.

Not saying it will magically fix things, but they need to get someone in between Paxton and Happ as I said last night.

Pedroia leaves game in second inning after flying out to right and gimping back to dugout. Sad to see his career wane as it has. He wore out his body with all those diving plays in the field.

Just keep this game close. Aaron Boone will think of something. That’s an old Charlie Dressen line from 67 years ago.

Happ leaves with one out and one on in the 7th. I believe Tommy Kahnle is on the mound. Yes, that’s him. Devers steals on first pitch, gets a running jump. Then the unnamed person grounds to short. Kahnle has only thrown 4 pitches but a lot has happened. And he strikes out JBJ on a 97 mph heater. A nice development.

Stepped away to make dinner for the kids and come back to see Happ settled down and pitched better. Happy is much better than hapless.

Now score some runs. Please.

I probably shouldn't say this out loud but why the fuck does the sox gamethread always devolve when they're losing into "we should bean the other team." I have to fight every fiber in me to not post there.
