100.7 mph on Devers' ball, 101.8 on Refsnyder's. Bad BABIP luck there.
I wonder how many hits the Angels have had today that were slower than both of those.

Wow, Crawford saved the entire bullpen today.
When he is on, he can be really good. When he's not, he can be terrible.

Five singles and Renfroe's homer, amusingly enough.

I was doubtful a bullpen move would help Crawford given how average his stuff seems to be and while the stats aren't super (just seven whiffs on the day), he did find some extra velo on the four-seamer and did a good job avoiding hard contact, huge effort from him obviously

Two straight ABs where Yoshida got a high breaking ball and did zip with it, he does not seem to have a good handle on picking those up

Miami (oh, Miami!)
I'm growing concerned over Yoshida's ability to make good contact at this level. Lot of weak groundouts.
He's doing very well with walking, not chasing bad pitches, and not striking out. He has the physical power to hit the ball out and did so consistently in Japan. Whatever the learning curve is, he'll be better when he gets his timing down.

Ignoring that they were screwed out of more Ohtani innings by the weather, the Angels have gotten extremely lucky today from the first inning on.

All four of those balls that inning were hit hard, just suboptimally, though Turner's is probably out in warmer weather. Sigh.

Dammit we actually smashed the ball a few times the last 2 innings with zeroes to show for it.

Looks like the Angels aren't going to find a way to lose to us today.

Crawford back out there! Pitched longer than every one of our first 15 starts of the season.
He'll need 4 days off after this.

Hat's off to Crawford. Took the entire rest of the game after the delay. Fresh bullpen for the road trip.

It is fucking mind boggling - the killer instinct for the small moment.
I guess Cora preferred subbing out McGuire knowing that he had Wong available instead of forcing Verdugo to play the field or shifting Hernandez from SS to the OF? That's the only rationale I can find.

I was thinking along those lines.

Bench is really short.

I'm certainly not writing off Yoshida on the basis of a month at the MLB level, but it's moderately concerning that he's essentially been the guy that the negative scouting reports pegged him as. Good eye, but weak contact with a kind of ugly uppercut swing. Hasn't been a disaster in the field, at least according to my eye test.
