Chandler Shepherd surrendered three runs on eight hits and a walk over 3 2/3 frames; whiffing five. Roenis Elias shut down the Columbus over 2 1/3 innings, striking out three of the seven men he faced. Brandon Workman was even more dominant than Roenis, striking out five of the six men he faced in his two innings. Williams Jerez picked up his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth, giving up a hit and a walk.

Dan Butler blasted a single and two doubles in four at-bats; scoring two and driving in two. Sam Travis reached four times in five trips with two singles, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Rusney Castillo contributed two singles in five appearances. Jeremy Barfield and Ramon Flores each flipped a single and took a free pass in five jaunts. Chad De La Guerra and Mike Olt each obtained a hit in four matchups, Olt with a double. Mike Miller went hitless in four treks. Aneury Tavarez was unable to reach in his five ups.

Mike Napoli was in the starting lineup for Columbus, but left the game before Rusney Castillo made the first out of the game due to an injured leg.

Kyle Hart went six scoreless frames, yielding four singles, a double, and two walks while whiffing a trio. Jake Cosart gave up two runs in the seventh on a walk, a single, and a double.

Cole Sturgeon was a triple shy of the cycle from the leadoff spot, picking up a pair of singles and a stolen base in his four sessions. Esteban Quiroz connected for his second double and fourth homer in three excursions. Josh Ockimey obtained a single and a walk in three jaunts. Danny Mars managed a double and a walk in four matchups. Josh Tobias, Jeremy Rivera, and Austin Rei each ripped a hit in three appearances; Rei, the catcher, with the unlikely triple. Conrad Gregor picked up his third free pass of the season, but his two hitless at-bats brings him to 0-for-18 for the start of the season. Luke Tendler is also having a rough start to the season, going 0-for-3 and bringing his BA down to .059.

Matt Kent tossed four scoreless frames, giving up a hit and two walks while whiffing a sextet. Trey Ball reacted poorly to the thread on the main board – giving up two walks, a double and then a Sam Hilliard homer – before picking up the third out in the fifth. Ball was better in the sixth, with only Mylz Jones reaching due to a Quiroz error. Trevor Kelley gave up two unearned runs in the seventh, giving up two hits.

Cole Sturgeon and Josh Tobias each struck two singles in four trips. Tate Matheny managed a single and two walks in four matchups. Luke Tendler and Isaias Lucena each lashed a single and drew a walk in three ups. Jordan Betts blooped a single in four jaunts. Nick Lovullo notched a walk in three appearances. Joan Martinez managed 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while whiffing a pair. Daniel Gonzalez gave up two hits and struck out a trio in two scoreless frames.

Jerry Downs and Tyler Hill each had two hits in four jaunts; Hill with a 2-RBI triple in the eighth that put Salem in the lead for the first time in the game. Santiago Espinal sliced a single and a triple in five excursions. Brett Netzer notched a triple and dropped a sac bunt in four appearances. Ryan Scott scorced a double and earned a walk in four sessions. Nick Sciortino walked twice in four treks.
