Hope so. I always remember David Wells at the beginning of May, on a year the Sox had a 5 game lead, that it was early May and it didn’t matter. Unfortunately for me he was correct.

Lots of teams play .500 ball and go on to win 100 games or championships, The ‘09 Yankees were 17-17.

But this Red Sox isn’t even playing .500 ball. They’re 6 games under, 7.5 out of first and have a negative run differential. This is a bad team.

Yes, the minus 40 run diff is troubling. Can be fixed with better starting pitching.

This was an enjoyable thread to catch up on. Nice to see good Paxton. Now just need good Happ.
It seems to me like poor planning to have Happ immediately follow Paxton in the rotation, two lefties who throw mostly fastballs but Happ is at 92-94 as opposed to Paxton's 97-99. German would fit nicely in between them.

Such an impressive game from Paxton, who held his velocity past 100 pitches. The last batter he faced in the 8th was Mookie, who he threw six fastballs to, 97, 97, 97, 99, 98, 97.
