Sale might be getting that velocity up but it doesn't look effortless at all. Watch the shoulder action if you can on replay, his delivery looks violent as hell.
Agree with this, Crow. Of course, pitching is a violent motion not conducive to keeping elbows and shoulders in good condition. Lanky pitchers look worse.

He just looks totally different. He's practically falling off the mound after every pitch.

Nope. Sale at 93 pitches thru 5. Erasmo Ramirez warming up. Saw him pitch in Pawtucket last Thursday. Stocky guy. Pitched to Leon that night, too.

Yea, so, can we just keep Urshela and trade Andujar? Have I ever mentioned on this forum that I'm okay trading Andujar?

Erasmo is listed at 5-10 and 215, about 20 pounds light.

Urshela doubles on his second pitch. The bottom of the lineup is hot tonight.

Wasn’t able to watch, how was Sale tonight? Seemed like he was throwing harder consistently but the Yankees just got to him. Is that accurate?
Basically. Hitting 95-97 occasionally but just didn't look comfortable and had nothing really working for him outside of velo.

Yes - he looked good first time through the order, but he was mixing in all his pitches from the very start instead of just relying on fastball/slider, and they seemed to adjust and square him up as the game went on. He did throw harder, but like crow said, he seemed to be putting out max effort to do it. There were several pitches that he obviously overthrew on and missed high and away, usually about 96 MPH.

Remy said after two innings that this is the best he looked. Yanks hit all of his mistakes, and he made a few.

Sale was great the first 2 innings then yankees scored 4 times in 2 inn and drove the pitch count up

Just got home, listening to baseball driving in the dark on a Spring evening is one of the great minor pleasures of life, especially tonight. I hope this ends the Bird experiment, he's a joke.
I also love baseball on the car radio, Coup, while on a road trip.

Sandy sported a .522 OPS last year. Looks worse this year. He used to be king of the bloop hit in Boston.
JBJ doubles to left. Paxton throwing 97 to Mookie.

That was fun. That Urshela play would have been amazing against anyone but he threw out freaking Mookie, yowza.

Baton to you, Mr. Happ.

Important game tomorrow night, only because it’s important to start playing well consistently, night after night. Saw some things tonight that bode well. Two-out RBIs. DJ singling in Gardner off a tough fastball. He covers all of the plate. Frazier has earned a spot on this team. Tauchman had a breakout night. Good defense, especially from Urshela.
And Paxton was the big story. Can he pitch at that level on a regular basis?

Even though it’s always nice to beat Boston, there is little significance because the Red Sox are so lost right now. Even Mookie is struggling.
I stopped taking April and May seriously back in the final Torre years when the Yankees twice played under .500 baseball into late May, then got red-hot and won almost 100 games. Boston could do the same thing.
