We might need a game megathread if they keep up this boring style of bullshit baseball
It’s like 10 percent that and 90 percent that we don’t have enough people participating, although you could say the latter about the offense until last inning too.

I believe that NY SPs have now given up just 7 ERs in their last 6 starts, 29.2 innings.

Sears sent down after the game, a bit of a strange move with an off day coming on Monday. Their 40 man pitching options right now aren't great, Deivi and Gil both got hit hard in their most recent outing and McKay is in AA and hasn't done well there. Another position player doesn't make too much sense either since they're not even really using Marwin, I am going with Sears down, McKay DFAd, Manny Banuelos (who last pitched on Tuesday, 3 innings, 50 pitches) added to the 40 man and up.

The 15 NY pitchers not named Gerrit Cole have a 1.80 combined ERA, 15 ERs in 75 innings. Too many walks, but look at the hits per inning:

75 52 18 15 29 76

Watching the post game now and somehow Jack Curry can't make the educated guess about Taillon which is that it was a 45 minute delay, they wanted to stretch him to 85 or 90 pitches tonight, so presumably you have throw a 15 pitch simulated inning 15-20 minutes in to the delay, and then if the delay doesn't last much longer, he at least has a few more batters in him. So the official numbers are 4.2 and 69 pitches (Elon Musk rejoices) but I bet if you got an honest answer from Blake or Taillon, they would have him having gone 5.2 and 85 pitches (as a guess).

Curry instead is going with that Taillon is some kind of superman for pushing through like that. Rain delays can mess people up but for this one, my guess ia that it worked out as expected in Taillon's stretching out process, although the second delay maybe cost Sears a roster spot for the next 12 days. The 28 man rosters allowed Sears to get into 2 games this past week, 2 scoreless innings. He did a nice job getting his feet wet, I will write about him a bit in the rotation thread.

Yeah, this is his first series, a bit rocky at times but in general a breath of fresh air.

Nestor with 7 Ks through 3, he's only had more than that once before (11 last Sept, also against BAL).

10 Ks through 4 for Cortes, Yankees can’t score either, still 0-0.

Absolutely infuriating watching this team try to hit. Marcus Thames must be laughing his ass off.

Heh, yeah, that’s Cashman’s fault.

Pitiful series, embarrassing. Welcome day off tomorrow.

That breaks a streak of 92 straight games that NY had scored against BAL, first shutout since Sept 2016.

Hot take a week and half into the season, this team is broken and needs to get rid of Boone. I know they won't stay bottom of the league in offense but they need to find their identity quick.

The team is fine, I actually feel better about them than I did coming into the season. Boone has been over his head since the day he was hired, they're not going to fire him but he still is over his head with actual in-game managerial decisions, as he has been since day 1.

I am in 100% agreement with Kay here. I don't agree the time is fine but do agree it's way too early to make a judgment. I think this is a good listen that encapsulates some of the right criticisms about how we put our lineup together every day.

I listened to the first minute, exactly the same thing I posted here before game 1 of the Orioles series. If it’s complaining about guys getting days off, NY just played for 10 straight days, guys need days off and NY has 10 guys for 9 spots since they inexplicably refuse to trade Gleyber.
