A fitting thread title for National Legalized Extortion Day.

It will be interesting to see if Callahan can repeat his dominance.

Drive Game Story

The cold air that descended upon Greenville seemed to temper any excitement there may have been at Fluor Field Tuesday night.

The Drive’s bats certainly didn’t heat things up as Charleston beat Greenville 6-2 to take the first two games of a three-game series. Game 3 will be Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

Greenville (7-5) managed little offensively, getting just four hits while striking out 12 times.

Charleston, meanwhile, (5-7) continued the offensive surge it started in the sixth inning Monday night. The RiverDogs got two runs in the first, two more in the third, and a fifth in the fourth against Drive starter Jamie Callahan.

After a dominating performance against Kannapolis April 10, Callahan (0-2) lasted only into the fourth, leaving with the bases loaded. He allowed seven hits and five runs while walking three.

Reliever Sergio Gomez provided a solid four-plus innings that kept the game within reach for Greenville. He gave up six hits, but allowed only one run while striking out six.

The Drive turned two more double plays in the first four innings, limiting the damage. They’ve made nine double plays in the six games of this home stand.
