Magic # for (the absolutely meaningless) President's trophy is 2 over ANA.  B's are 4 up on StL with 2 left, and would have to ROW tiebreaker anyways.  ANA is tied in ROW, and are 3 back with 2 to play, so any combination of points earned by the Bruins, or points not earned by ANA = B's are the best in the NHL this regular season (which means very little).

Nitpick - if the B's only get one point in their last two, and ANA wins their next two in reg or OT (or only one ROW + a SO win) the teams tie for pts and ANA gets the ROW tiebreaker. If the Bruins get 2 pts through any means they lock it up.

The Bruins are definitely in the driver's seat and even playing their B team they should be able to handle Buffalo. Finish it now, go full rest for the final game of the season.

*edit - technically ANA only needs one ROW if the B's only get a loser point in the next two... Added SO scenario*

Wouldn't you rather, if needed, play Game 7 at home?
that would assume that the two top seeds from both the east and the west make the finals. That doesn't happen very often in the playoffs. I'm not sure the last time it did happen actually.

2001, with the Devils, Avs, and Bourque finally getting his. Before that, 1989, with the Flames and Habs, notable for being the only year a visiting team clinched the cup in Montreal. Both years the team who won had more regular season points.

Fuck these losers. We're at home, even playing our B team, at maybe C level effort, but we're the best team in the league facing the worst. They're winning Saturday to let the fans celebrate the President's in the Garden. This game can't come soon enough. Goddamn do I love this team.

Honestly I'm more invested to see Bergeron reach 30 goals again and for the Bruins to win Saturday so that they will go the entire season without a 3-game losing streak.

The President's Trophy is nice too.  Yea, three of the last five winners have lost in the first round, but looking at it those teams appeared to be a result of "biggest fish in a small pond" syndrome - the Southeast (Capitals in 2009-2010) and the Northwest (Canucks in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012) were awful, awful divisions with some very poor teams.  I believe (and hope) that the President's Trophy will have a stronger correlation with postseason success with the new divisions/schedule, which appear much more balanced.  (Chicago won it all last year coming from a division with St. Louis and Detroit with Columbus barely missing the playoffs.)

All that aside, let's have fun and beat the piss out of the Sabres.

If John Scott is in the lineup, I want Bergeron, Hamilton, and the Swedes scratched. And Bobby Robbins playing 15 minutes. Otherwise, everyone just keep their heads up and win a boring game.

Also, if anyone wants 2 tickets to tomorrow's game before they go on stubhub tomorrow, let me know. Sec 328 row 6, seats 5 and 6.
