Workman gets worked over, PawSox pummelled 14-8.

Boxscore

Chandler Shepherd surrendered five runs on five hits (including HRs from Darnell Sweeney, Teoscar Hernandez, and Jason Leblebijian) and three walks over five frames; whiffing six. Brandon Workman started the sixth inning with a one run lead, but failed to get any of the six batters he faced out. After a leadoff walk, Workman gave up three consecutive singles and then another walk, before being grand slammed by Dwight Smith – the final batter he faced. Ty Buttrey followed, yielding two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while picking up three outs, one via the K. Kyle Martin managed two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk while whiffing a trio. Robby Scott surrendered a run on two hits in the ninth while striking out one.

Mike Ohlman obtained two singles and two walks in five matchups. Jantzen Witte jacked a single and a homer in four jaunts. Rusney Castillo contributed a single and a double over five at-bats. Mike Miller managed a single in four trips. Aneury Tavarez, Sam Travis, and Jeremy Barfield each singled once in five appearances. Portland pummeled by Phils, 12-4.

Boxscore

Teddy Stankiewicz was stanky again, surrendering seven runs on ten hits (including a Damek Tomscha bomb) and a walk; striking out three in 4 1/3 frames. Stankiewicz currently owns a 14.04 ERA. Yankory Pimentel was little better, yielding four runs on four hits (including two homers to Deivi Grullon), two walks, a hit by pitch, and a wild pitch in 2 2/3 innings; whiffing a pair. Trevor Kelley gave up a solo bomb to Kyle Martin and a single in the eighth inning, striking out one.

Esteban Quiroz jacked two homers in his four trips to the plate. Danny Mars managed two singles and a walk in five matchups. Cole Sturgeon slugged a single and a homer in five sessions. Bullpen and Defense turn a negative tide, Drive lose 9-6.

Boxscore

Kutter Crawford contributed five solid innings, allowing a run on three hits while striking out an octet. Brendan Nail gave up a single and picked up five outs to the first six batters he faced. Then his world fell apart. Nail walked two batters to load the bases before giving up a grounder to third baseman Frankie Rios who booted the ball that would have ended the inning, allowing the first of five unearned runs to score in the inning (all charged to Nail.) Nail subsequently surrendered a three RBI double and an RBI triple before being pulled. Marcos Lantigua got the final out of the seventh without giving up another run... allowing a walk and a stolen base. In the eighth, Lantigua gave up a double, a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly, yielding an earned run. The third out of the eighth was as elusive as in the seventh, as Marino Campana botched a catch in left field. It would lead to two unearned runs as Lantigua gave up a two-run gopher ball to Marten Gasparini before getting a foul popout to end the inning.

Isaias Lucena reached three times in four appearances with a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Kervin Suarez and Michael Osinski each obtained a hit and a walk in five sessions; Osinski mashing a grand slam. Marino Campana and Ramfis Berroa each raked a hit in four at-bats; Berroa with a double. Pedro Castellanos contributed a single in five appearances. Cole Brannen collected a walk and a stolen base in two trips after replacing Jagger Rusconi who went hitless in two jaunts. Frankie Rios was hit by a pitch amid three hitless attempts. Everlouis Lozada was hit by a pitch once in five excursions.

Interesting that they are stretching out Chandler Shepherd to be a starter or maybe that was a one off?
