I thought it was great and I don't doubt the popularity...but how the hell did Snoop ever watch Ric Flair growing up? He had to be bullshitting about that, right?
Yeah, as Kliq said, WTBS was nationwide in the 80s. Likely Snoop saw him on NWA telecasts. Growing up in the 80s in Mass. I got WWF, NWA, WCCW (Textas) and AWA on TV. Flair wasn't hard to find.

Flair would have been a regular on both GCW and JCP on TBS in the 1980s. He was also an occasional participant on WCCW, which was shown on ESPN. I grew up in California in the '80s and I was a huge Ric Flair fan.

I am definitely looking at it as a pre-Super Bowl binge. I'm going to try like hell to not watch tonight so I can fold it into my weekend of watching 5 Super Bowls, Four/Three Games to Glory, and this. I am just excited to see BB talking about football, and probably dropping a ton of historical knowledge.

I'm DVR'ing it. Note, if you're taping, I suggest extending the taping, because they are showing a college hoops game before the 30 for 30.

"There's the two we gave them".............."You should have never lost that one game to Tyree"........

Neither one of them wanted to go into the Jets locker room.

These two are just tremendous, what a riot.

Is there a team other than the Patriots and Steelers to have three consecutive head coaches that won Super Bowls at some point, either before, during, or after?

I loved the Parcells / BB interview when Parcells was with the media and BB was coach of the Browns.

Parcells referring to the cutoff BB gear, paraphrasing: I see you did some customizing. Couple slices, looks good :fonz:

That was phenomenal. The Pats-Parcells run lined up with my high school years, and the Pats-Jets drama was right when in college. Both brought back a ton of memories. Pure gratitude for Big Bill bringing the Pats out of the wildness. Pure anger for him skipping town BEFORE the biggest game in the franchise’s history. From there, it’s funny to think about how dysfunctional I think of the Jets now since I absolutely hated them post-Parcells.

So many choice anecdotes and quotes:

- Kraft on the league office and the Jets....I wonder how much that led to him backing Goodell, only to be stabbed in the back.

- Parcells on Belichick the tailor.

- Belichick as the two time coach of the Jets without ever coaching a game.

- Scott Pioli’s shirt.

- Fredo on pushing the shoppzing cart.

Reliving the Kraft/Parcells rupture was painful.

Now don’t get wrong — in a world where Parcells stays, B.B. undoubtedly gets a HC gig someplace else and the last 18 seasons do not happen. Parcells would probably have won rings, but we would not have 5 of them in all likelihood or every-other-year SB appearances. But that’s saying we were saved by something akin to divine intervention — the Jets weirdness

Absent that intervention, the rupture would have been catastrophic for us, sad, tragic and avoidable. Kraft and Parcells admitted they both fucked up and dearly wished they had handled it different. It was ego driven bullshit, much like the Jerry Jones/Jimmy Johnson rupture, which WAS catastrophic.

I hope the lessons of this were deeply burned into Jonathan Kraft.

When older folks talk about how snakebitten the Patriots franchise was, one of the things we're talking about is that Chuck Fairbanks had one foot out the door before the playoffs were about to start for one of the better Pats teams of the 70s, only to not learn the lesson and wind up with Parcells similarly having one foot out the door on the eve of that Super Bowl appearance.

Great great show.

The one weird thing is Belichick getting the transition from Air Force to the Giants wrong or Parcells bio they show on screen is wrong. It talks about Parcells being Patriots LB before Giants DC job.

Loved it, but was it just me or did it appear Parcells was out to lunch at times? At one point, Belichick appeared to be telling him about two weddings which I think involved his kids over the summer in Nantucket, and Parcells barely acknowledged it. The crazy thing was that at other times he could remember very specific things, like that Georgia Tech set the rushing record on his Air Force team.

This may have been well known, but the Giants players and coaches referring to Belichick as "Doom" was hilarious.

Such a great documentary. I wish it could have been longer.

Haven't seen it yet, but it could be age-related memory issues. Short-term memory deteriorates before long-term. I know as my grandmother aged, she could remember things from her youth and young adult life far more vividly and readily than what she had for lunch two hours previous. Not really surprising if Parcells remembers things from 40 years ago better than one year ago.

It seemed like a hearing thing more than a memory thing. Happened at the end with the Jets locker room and when he was asking about his heart.

Not much else to say about this other than what’s already been said. Awesome documentary.

just watch the 2002-2005 Hou Texans if u want to know what capers wouild be like
I thought Capers was a pretty good coach with Carolina in the 1990s. He got them to the NFC championship game pretty quickly. One last thought about Capers..besides almost being the Pats coach in 2001, wasn't he brought in 2008 to be the designated head coach of Bill had gotten suspended for Spygate? Do I remember that incorrectly? Anyway, a great documentary with the Jets shade an added bonus.

Wikipedia shows Parcells leaving Air Force after the 1978 season for the Giants defensive coordinator job in 1979. He quit as DC before the season started, but came back as the Pats linebackers coach in 80, before returning to the Giants in 81.

Belichick left Denver after 78 and joined the Giants in 79 with Parcells, but stayed on when Parcells left

You remember correctly. Capers was going to be hired as an assistant head coach for 2008 as a contingency if the NFL suspended BB.

Ahh.... knew there had to be a reason. So it's a bad way of editing together the story with the bio photo and then going to Perkins time when Parcells came back as if that was directly from Air Force when it left out the original trip to the Giants. Makes sense.

Not many people realize Belichick and Parcells have been friends since they were child actors together in the late 50's:

I actually took that to be a sign of what little personal relationship they have now. They talked a good game about the professional mentorship, and the story ended by trying to push the "I love you guy" angle, but all of the interaction between them was not the least bit warm. It was like a college reunion, good at telling stories about the good times, but the "so, you married, kids?" sort of small take belied any real interest. An occasional "hows the heart" grunt question from Belichick to Parsells, or a compliment about coaching to Belichick by Parcels, and if you look at Belichick's body language, his shoulders involuntarily twitched a bit at how uncomfortable he was during the interview. So, I think they could talk in greater detail about the professional path they both shared, and where they are professionally now, but my sense is neither really cares that much for out of football personal stuff.

At the end, when BB was stating that he could have acted differently after the split, taking partial responsibility for "the silence" then then Parcells said something to the effect of "I didn't see it as a real problem," BB had a really odd but telling reaction shot (he looked really surprised), which said a lot to me about the discomfort they still feel, and what a dick Parcells still is.

So after watching this, I was just reviewing the 1990 NFL season. Jimmy Johnson won coach of the year for Dallas that season. He went 7-9. Does anyone remember why he won with such a paltry record?

Also, now that I'm looking at the coach of the year list. Jason Garrett won it in 2016.

That's an embarrassing win. He's awful. It's kind of a joke that Belichick has only 3 coach of the year wins and NONE since 2010.

None.
