Hoping Geekie remains part of the Bruins rebuild. One of the few with scoring touch. Was glad to see him remain past the deadline.

It’s just astonishing, the difference in his reaction time, positioning, confidence—all of it. The pucks just keep whistling past him.

He's constantly out of position, his high glove is an issue, he loses his posts on every cross ice, bad rebound control and yea his confidence is gone. He's not an NHL caliber starter right now. He's bad at everything.

Yank him. I didn’t even see the goal, I know there’s only 10 minutes left but yank him.
Honestly I want him left in to get lit up in every game. He's been trash almost the entire year and he's one of several big reasons they're missing the playoffs. Let him own it

Currently in position to draft 8th overall, with 6th or 5th not out of reach.
The last time the Bruins drafted 8th overall, they took Zach Hamill, an impressive draft disaster for a franchise that has had numerous drafting disasters. (20 NHL games, 4 points).

Are Cam and Donnie the right guys to be making that pick?

If you look at Sweeney's draft record (excluding 2015...which, is a big caveat I know but it was a.) his first year, and b.) 10 years ago) he's drafted actually really well, getting at least one solid NHLer in each draft.

2016 - 2 quality NHLers and 1 franchise player (Ryan Lindgren, Trent Frederic, Charlie McAvoy)
2017 - Urho Vaakanainen, Jeremy Swayman
2018 - Lauko (no first round pick)
2019 - Beecher with the 30th OA. He's about what you can expect/hope for drafting that late in the 1st.
2020 - Lohrei (late in the 2nd, no 1st).
2021 - too early to tell. Lysell could be something, but Sweeney also went chalk with him, so not much to complain about there. But Gallagher at 217 and Gausseau at 212 may end up being real steals.
2022 - Poitras in the 2nd, Dans Locmelis in the 4th.

Given where he's drafted, and that he's often traded away 1st round picks to try and get the core 1 last cup before Bergeron/Marchand/Rask/Chara etc retired. It's hard not to see some positives in there. The 2nd round in particular he's been a wizard.

Wow, that's... wow. I don't want to read too much into it, but I imagine if I did, I wouldn't read too much good.

I think most of us knew the rebuild year was going to come eventually, but this season has been jarring in a way that I did not expect. Between the Swayman holdout, Montgomery apparently quitting on the team before the season even started because he wanted to be coaching somewhere else and everyone aside from Pasta showing varying degrees of regression... the team is just a bit too good to guarantee themselves a monster pick, but also kind of terribad to watch. I am very interested to see what they do this upcoming offseason.

Zadarov is clearly sick of Swayman's shit. You've got a goalie who can't stop a beachball and he's out there grandstanding and trying to fight? I'm positive Zadarov and others would rather Swayman STFU and stop some fucking pucks for once.

But it's accurate.

Swayman's GSAA is -12.1 this year. Best I can tell, that's the worst figure from a full time starter in Boston since Steve Shields in 2002-03. Plus if that Zadarov interview is anything to go on, his teammates loathe him. All for $8 million a year for the next decade. FFS.

Good job good effort.

I also remember Swayman throwing a tantrum or having an attitude problem when he was sent down to Providence for like four days when Tuukka made his final comeback attempt with the club. I think he's got a major attitude and ego problem.

He was reportedly upset they sent him down but there was no reporting that he threw a tantrum. Additionally, he was the best performing goalie on the team when they sent him down. Tuukka was loved for throwing milk crates. Swayman is an ahole with an attitude problem for allegedy potentially having thrown a tantrum when sent to Providence.

He's had a bad year but some of the Swayman narrative is way over the top.

I don't think Tuukka was loved for throwing milk crates, he was loved for being the winningest Bruins goalie in history. And while he did have his moments of emotional outbursts - it never felt performative and always seemed like he was mad at himself.

How long has the running joke been that Swayman has been LOOKING for a fight? 2 seasons now? It's getting to be kind of weird. Seems like it's a bit too easy to goad him into getting rattled.

Tuukka threw milk crates once and it went viral because it was both so over the top and the complete opposite of his usual personality. Plus he was right!

I mean, Zadarov is clearly sick of Swayman's shit. Rumors were that the team wasn't very pleased with his holdout shenanigans. He got paid bigly and promptly sucked and his teammates are not exactly rushing to his defense.

There's a lot of smoke lingering around right now.

Tuukka had more than just that. That was just the most memorable, lol.
