welp. David vs Goliath. Go ND.

Given, ND isn't really a David. But talent-wise it's going to be a steep hill to climb

What year, the year with 12 teams or 4 teams?

There were a handful of two loss teams in the playoff.
any year before this.

they were definitely one of the best 12 teams this year.,

I guess I am the old man screaming at the clouds but it almost feels dirty to think that Ohio State will be the “champion”.
They got punched in the mouth by their rival. Every OSU fan wanted their coach fired and thar was their second loss. It just doesn’t seem right

I come away from this absolutely convinced ND can play with them, and beat them. They are 1,000% tougher and better coached than Texas.
I agree. This was very nearly a 21-21 game. Ohio State didn't exactly blow out Penn State. I'm fine with Ohio State being the favorite but this doesn't feel like a lopsided matchup to me at all.

I HATE Ohio state so maybe my opinion is too clouded but it’s really kind of shitty that Ohio State will make the championship as a team with 2 losses and one of them was to their much, much less talented rival.
Kinda felt like OSU knew it was making the playoffs no matter what and tanked the Michigan game

Aside from one game, they've clearly had a better season than anyone. Do you really want to compare losses with other teams? The NCAA decided that one game can no longer sink a team's season. It's weird that The Game really can't determine a season anymore, but here we are.

They lost 2 games. One of them was a very close loss. The other was in the biggest rivalry in college football to a team with half of the talent.
IMO, that should be disqualifying but with 12 teams it’s not

Losing to a Maction team should be more disqualifying

Please, you're just continuously repeating something completely irrational. The Buckeyes lost in Oregon because of a rule that embarrassed the NCAA so much they immediately changed it + not downing the ball a couple of seconds sooner... and then beat the ever-living shit out of them in a rematch at a neutral site. Texas lost twice to one team and Notre Dame had the most embarrassing loss of any playoff team.

Ok bud.

I think I’ve continually made my position very clear that the loss to Michigan, their biggest rival, a loss that made A TON of the OSU faithful want to can Day, is a massive mark against Ohio State

That’s clearly been my main point throughout yet you don’t address it in this whole “continuously repeating something completely irrational” missive,
Someone else st least addressed it and said that ND had the Northern Illinois loss.

you’re arguing with ghosts to prop up Ohio State

Wait, so you're arguing that they shouldn't have been in the playoffs? I'm not computing. They literally steamrolled through every team so far. Do you make this same argument in the NFL when an 8 seed wins the SB?

I addressed it a long time ago – the NCAA clearly decided that one game can't sink a team's season anymore. You're beating a dead horse with an asinine simplistic argument that doesn't make any sense. Enjoy your win Michigan while Ohio State enjoys playing for a national championship.

I posted this already but they ABSOLUTELY deserved to make it in a 12 team playoff.

my point is that this new playoff is tougher to wrap my head around than I anticipated (for all of the reasons I laid out earlier)

They need to go to 8 teams
P4 winners get automatic bids but no top seeds automatically
4 at larges
No byes

or just go to top 7 sec teams plus The Game winner (obviously a bad idea for this year)

Dude, I don’t give two shits about Michigan. Didn’t graduate from there; don’t care at all about what they do.

But you are obviously a massive OSU fan. Dont think your post accomplished what you think it did

Yeah that’s a take. OSU is proving exactly why a playoff was needed. There’s no doubt this team deserves to be where they are and why they are double digit favorites in the CG.

Why does this prove they need a playoff? I am legitimately asking. So talent in the end wins out despite losing to an inferior rival?

So if Northern Illinois was Notre Dame's #1 rival, the Irish should have missed the playoffs, got it.

I think it’s more that their opponent is a double digit underdog

ND is the most flawed finalist in a long long time, even more than Froggy

Exactly what I said, nailed it.

You are posting as if you’ve backed me into a corner with your unimpeachable logic. That hasn’t happened.

I will reiterate this once again…
-in a 12 team playoff; Ohio State has earned everything.
-after watching this all play out, I think 12 teams is too many. It’s strange to crown a school national champion when their SECOND loss occurred on November 30th….and that loss sparked a media blitz saying the coach should be fired

EDIT: I get you’re an Ohio state fan (maybe an alum). I graduated from SMU, I have 0 dog in this race. I am 35 and I am pointing out that this is a drastic departure from college football as we know it

New format next year: if a team's fans call for the coach to be fired, they miss the playoffs. We can go ahead and cancel the playoffs now.
