I turned the game on late, so I only saw a replay of the punch….but how the fuck wasn’t Henderson kicked out of the game?

I don’t remember a year with less exciting QB play. I don’t mean bad NFL prospects, I just mean exciting guys. 98 or whatever we had guys like Manning and Vick lighting it up and all kinds of crazy offenses, this year is pretty dull. Jordan Travis who doesn’t really have an NFL arm was way more fun to watch, never mind Daniels, Maye, and Penix.
Overall the creme of the crop athletes / cognitive processors will no longer be choosing football. It'll be a slow, generational turnover but the CTE aspect is real.

Edit: we'll get the best of the rest

This doesn't make any sense. People live, eat, and breath football. There is plenty of people choosing football.

What other sport would these guys choose, hockey? There is no other choice.

I agree with your first point about football.

obvious other choices would be baseball or basketball.

if I was close to anyone that was elite at all 3, I know I would be really pushing them towards baseball and basketball

Right?
I mean Kyler Murray was given 5m as a draftee to play baseball. Dude chose to go play football and get his bell rung.
Maybe in Boston suburbs this notion is true but in the south and Texas… futbol is life!

Being a great athlete doesn't matter that much for baseball.

Saying basketball is hilarious. Do you realize how tall NBA players are? They are freakishly big. Only a few NFL players could play in the NBA.

Am I just cranky, or is this game more over commercialized than any NFL game?
It helps when you know they’re going to media. ESPN typically goes 3 times to commercial in the 1st and 3rd qtr and 4 times in the 2nd and 4th. They won’t go after a major momentum play like a turnover or long punt return. They also want to typically let both teams touch the ball in the 1st/3rd before going to a media break but it doesn’t always happen.

when the OP says “cream of the crop” I am thinking of someone that could play all of those sports. If we are talking someone like Kyler Murray, then I would still push them towards baseball. Football has the worst professional salary structure of the 3 major sports by a fucking mile. Also the most long term health risks

Kyler Murray has already made 138 million dollars playing football. He's got another 156 million coming to him the next four years. If he was playing baseball, he'd probably be in his 2nd year as a pro, and have made a few million.

I am not sure football has the worst salary structure for the top players.
