There
Well. That game was historical for all the wrong reasons if you are a dodger fan
And yet, Miggy Ro - who was responsible for the final 5 ER -- managed to keep the whole team loose during a blowout loss:

It was pretty easy to recognize his Yamamoto, Kershaw, and Roki impersonations in real time, but I didn't realize he worked in Knack and whoever else too. All while using Yamamoto's glove.

Daniel Schneemann gets a 2-run little league homer (double + error) thanks to Bobby Witt Jr making one of the worst relay throws you'll see at the major league level.

The Dodgers began the season 8-0. They’ve since lost three consecutive series.

Padres win 10-4 against Cubs. Go to 14-3. 11-0 at home.
Tatis hits 2 homers.
Third largest crowd in Padres' history 47,000 plus.
Suarez, who is 7 for 7 in saves, sits down as the Pads score 4 in the eighth.
Peralta comes in for his ninth appearance, he hasn't given up a run yet.
Padres walked 7 times. (the anti Sox)
And for the hell of it, Xander hitting .288
Iggy hitting .276 (with a nifty glove to glove toss for a force out)
Fun team and get to hear Orsillo.

Only downside, a painful 3 hours and 12 minutes.

2Ks in the first for Strider. Then Santander snuck one down the line. But he gets out of it with a pop up.
Last season was sort of a drag because of how many star players were hurt.

After coming off 20 wins and 280 Ks, Strider missed basically the entire year, deGrom missed basically the entire year, Ohtani wasn't pitching, McClanahan on the Rays, Sandy Alcantara on the Marlins, Shane Bieber on the Guardians, etc. That's 6 potential Cy Young candidates.

Not to mention Acuña tearing his ACL, etc.

This year they're all back or on their way back. It's nice to see and good for the sport.

The Braves struck out 19 times in 9 innings against TOR today, one short of the alltime MLB record.

Chris Bassit with 10k in 5 IP, Brendon Little struck out the side, and Yimi Garcia struck out all four guys he faced. Yeesh.

The Braves had one guy hitting over .240 in the lineup today -- Austin Riley's hitting .284.

Wild start for the Braves at 5-13, only above the Rockies (3-14) in the NL. Seemed like their strategy was to tread water until Acuña and Strider were back, but it's kind of comforting to see one of the current "gold standard" organizations that many of us pointed to is also struggling.

The way that core and offense looked in 2023 compared to '24 and so far this year is wild. Yes, Acuna's issues staying healthy have been a huge part of it but Olson, Riley, Harris, Albies all cratering a bit at the same time--none of them have been catastrophic on their own but all at the same time. It really looked like in 2023 they were maybe a powerhouse just starting to gear up.

Those are all really good players so it could click tomorrow, just hard to figure beyond their terrible luck with injuries last few years.

They feel like an OOTP team come to life. It never fails in that game that if one team stockpiles talent, many of those players will regress to support the league averages. More proof that we are living in a simulation, I guess.

The Rockies strung together a couple of hits vs the Dodgers to lead 1-0 in the 1st.

Bottom of the 1st the Dodgers have batted around and Marquez is out after 2 outs and trailing 6-1.

Ohtani came into the game hitting .280, after the 1st inning he is up to .299.

When your leadoff hitter has 2 RBI in the 1st inning, that's usually a sign things have gone well.

Man Bobby Miller is so frustrating. He's got incredible stuff but it's apparently extremely hittable.

Toglia hit his first HR of the year, a grand slam to make it 7-5, then Moniak went back to back with a solo shot. 1 run game now in the 3rd, in a game where the Dodgers batted around in the 1st.

Bobby Miller has pitched 59 innings since the start of 2024 and given up 59 ERs, that’s not easy to do.

Picked up his first career win.

Rangers have a high ceiling if they can get good health from Eovaldi/deGrom and Rocker finally lives up to his potential. Tied with NYY for best record in the AL

Arizona has had some insane late inning comebacks already this season, just now they were down 7-1 after 7 against the Cubs and scored 7 in the 8th, up 8-7 now.

That game was even wilder actually, 2-1 CHC going to the bottom of the 7th.

CHC scores 5 in the bottom of the 7th, 7-1 CHC after 7.

ARI ends up with 10 in the top of the 8th, 11-7 ARI.

Now the first three batters in the bottom of the inning have scored, HBP/BB/three run HR by Carson Kelly, 11-10 ARI and still no outs.

So 18 runs scored while pitchers got just 6 outs in total, 2-1 CHC to 11-10 ARI.

Tucker with a go-ahead HR now, 12-11 Cubs and the 8th is still going.

10-10 in the last inning and a half!!

So uh, do these teams have good setup men? Because I'm just seeing meatballs.

edit: seeing D-back fans saying their good guys are not available... so this is a perfect storm of circumstances on that side. Cubs had a day off prior though...

It was 2-1 in the 7th, it's only been for the last three half innings (and the bases are loaded again).
