Probably true. Scott's story highlighted the absolutely crazy stat from the below ESPN article that Nicklaus played at 146 straight majors from 1962 to 1998. That's nuts.

Scott can still get in via OWGR. He's currently 60th, if he stays there or improves he will get in. However, he's not in the field at the Memorial this weekend so he'll be relying on the performance (or lackthereof) of others.
Another good story from the last month and qualifying yesterday is Harry Higgs. Been in the wilderness the past few seasons but won back-to-back KFT events in May and qualified for the US Open yesterday, going birdie-birdie in a 7 for 2 playoff to get in. Assured of getting his PGA Tour card back next year, though could get a battlefield promotion if he wins 1 more KFT tournament.
Only 2 or 17 LIV players who attempted to qualify got through. Dean Burmeister (who played well at the PGA) and David Puig. Talor Gooch did not attempt to qualify.

Rickie went out in 45 today and is +12 for the tournament. Seems the resurgence only lasted a year, he's been pretty bad this year.
Spieth also looking at a MC in an event that cuts like 12 players. Hasn't had a top 10 since Phoenix, down to 25th in the world. They've been talking about a wrist injury for over a year now. If that's truly the case, I'm not sure why he continues to plow ahead and play instead of just shutting it down and getting it fixed.

At the top, Adam Hadwin leads by 1. The Felon did his thing yesterday and is 1 back, teeing off in few minutes. He likely wins by 5+. This was the tournament last year that he was like +1,000 strokes gained tee to green but -1,020 strokes gained putting and thus lost. It was wild, essentially he paired the best week ever strokes gained tee to green with the worst week ever putting.

JT, Spieth, Rickie struggling. Hovland is showing signs of life recently so maybe he's back but up to this point he's been terrible. Famous last words, and I'm not complaining about this, but has Patrick Cantlay played professional golf this season?
Among the stars, Scottie is in a tier of his own. Xander is probably in the next tier, on his own. Third tier is probably Rory, Morikawa and Ludvig. Rory has a W but major performance not great. Morikawa doesn't have a win but has 4 top 10's in his last 5 starts and was in the final pairing on Sunday of both majors. Ludvig had the knee injury at the PGA but has otherwise been a top of the leaderboard mainstay.
I’d like to see Hideki go on a heater. He was trending great and then had a meh Masters, didn’t play, had a meh PGA. Having a good day today and currently at -2 for the tournament.

Ted Scott (Scottie's caddy) would be 52nd on the PGA tour money list this year. He's made an estimated $2.275M so far this year.
Scottie is up to +3.11 strokes gained according to data golf. That essentially means that compared to the average PGA Tour player, Scottie is 3.11 shots better than them per round. It's the 2nd highest "peak" strokes gained in the strokes gained era behind 2000 Tiger (a comical +3.86). Among current players, only Xander (+2.53) and Rory (+2.20) are within a shot of Scottie.
There have been guys who go on hot streaks like 2015 Spieth and 2015 Day (kinda wild that both were the same year) where they got hot and won a ton of tournaments in short succession. But those were more flashes in the pan. Scottie has basically been the dominant tee-to-green player in the world for 3 years now. The putter went cold and he didn't win much last year but tee-to-green never dipped from best in the world. In fact, it might've even gotten better. It was only a matter of time before he figured out the putter and now that he has, good night Irene. It appears to be sustainable, too.
The Tour needs to pounce. He's the closest thing to another Tiger they'll get. He's more reserved, calm and collected on the course than a lot of guys so I'm not sure he'll ever reach Rory or Spieth levels of popularity but the tour needs to figure out a way to market the shit out of him. The police officers in Louisville not knowing who he was is a problem the Tour needs to solve.

Tiger did that in 25 tournaments (11 wins, 5 2nds, 1 3rd, 1 4th, 2 5ths). Scheffler is currently at $24mil in 13 tournaments.

Spent Thursday and Friday volunteering as a marshal for the par 3 number 11 hole at the Travelers. A very hot, but very cool experience for an average Joe golfer to be behind the ropes on both tee and green. Working the green is particularly cool on the 11th, as the tee box for 12 is just steps away, so you could watch them come in on 11, make their putts, and then blast the ball on 12. These guys were hitting three wood 70 yards further than any of us would hit driver. Amazing to watch up close. Botch of the week: on Thursday Gotterup sent two balls into the woods along the CT river before he finally landed one in the fairway on 12 and was sitting five halfway down the fairway. (P.S. Emilio Grillo and his caddie are douchebags. Second year in a row I've seen them blow up at a volunteer/patron for minor issues regularly throughout the day).
Pre kids, my wife and I worked as Marshalls on the 17th green. She worked for Travelers, who has 16 and 17. That was a lot of fun. Tourney has changed a lot since then, but it is still a fun day.
We went Friday, and had tix to the Mohegan Sun tent above 17th tee. Open air, but the shade, electric fans and easy beverage access made it comparatively comfy.
