I know that most of you blamed Payamps for not getting over, but mlb article agrees with me that Iggy's hustle dominated the play that turned the momentum for the Mets.

MLB.com has reporters covering each team. That story was written by the Mets reporter. Here is the description of the play, as written by the Brewers reporter.
Then the Mets tied the game at 4-4 when Payamps was a step slow covering first base on Jose Iglesias’ infield hit.
Said Payamps of his part in it: “That’s more or less a routine play that we’re able to practice. I stayed back on it because I thought that ball was going to be closer to the bag, and it wasn’t. It caught me by surprise a little bit. … Then things kind of unraveled from there.”

Yeah, that inning wasn't just a Payamps, though, IIRC. Chourio and Adames both mis played balls as well. Hard to keep a team from scoring a bunch of runs when you give them 6 outs in an inning, especially in the pitch clock era, where it all falls apart faster than the time it took Josh Beckett to throw one pitch.

Murphy says "five outs" in that story

Detroit continues to impress me (and everyone else, I guess). Pitching, defense, etc.
Earlier in the game, the third baseman made a great catch and got the out at first; in the next half-inning, the Astros 3bman failed to do that.

Five minutes of research suggests that the Tigers have one reliable starting pitcher and are otherwise just going to be patching it together with openers and bullpen games for the rest of the playoffs. Does that sound about right?

I'm not a believer in the "patchwork" opener strategy in the playoffs, just way too much can go wrong, especially as hitters get more familiar with relievers throughout a series. Detroit might have enough to finish off Houston though, if the Astros keep squandering opportunities.

As much as I love a full length playoff series when the Sox aren't involved, I won't be disappointed if one is done after two games.

Anyone else getting the audio feed where it sounds like the announcers are broadcasting from a submarine?
