Speaking of "why baseball is great," I put Brewers radio on, hoping for Uecker....no luck, at least not this inning.

Pawtucket
I’ve never seen an inning that started with a great play for the first out, than devolve into a defensive circus quite like this.

Adames singlehandedly blows up the Brewers with his bobble. Wow, four runs!

The Royals and Tigers are going to meet in the ALCS and we're going to have to sit through so many tedious discussions about MLB's playoff format.

I mean, at some point if this trend continues I think it's going to be at least a bit warranted. I think when MLB goes to 32 teams, they should cut the regular season to 154 games and do 7 game series for four rounds and no byes, just like NBA/NHL.

The current system is good in that wild card teams should face severe adversity but not single game elimination right away, but it does hamper a (albeit supposedly weakest) division winner. Do it the NBA/NHL way and there is no complaining about too much or too little rest, too, and 7 game series are much more likely to have the true better team win.

There is also the whole "you only need 3 starters until the LCS" that flies in the face of regular season roster construction, in a 7 game traditional 2-3-2 format at least that forces 4 (or openers! Yay! But those often do not work int he postseason, so it's an appropriate penalty).

I actually agree with putting eight teams from each league with no byes and longer series, but I'd reduce the season to like 120 games or so. Usually people who are cranky about the playoffs want to go the other way, though.

You can probably go lower than 154, yes, although it took until late September for the Tigers to show they were a better team than the Twins (and early September for Red Sox). I wouldn't be comfortable with 120.

Payamps 5 run non-hustle error. So far.
His time in spring training with the Red Sox in 2021 must have ruined all his fundamentals.
From his wikipedia page:

On November 25, 2020, Payamps was claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox.[9] On February 3, 2021, he was designated for assignment after the signing of Garrett Richards was made official.[10] On February 10, Payamps was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays.[11] On February 22, he was again claimed off waivers by the Red Sox.[12] On March 6, Payamps was again claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays.[13] Payamps recorded a 2.70 ERA in 22 appearances with the Blue Jays, but was designated for assignment on July 16.
We claimed him twice and DFAd him twice. He's been a good reliever since then too.

Right but the Twins and Tigers would both be in under the eight-team format regardless (Red Sox still miss the cut, though). That said, yeah, there’s probably some mathematically optimal number of games that I haven’t worked out yet.

In retrospect, the Brewers are batting Jake freakin' Bauers 6th. This is not a good playoff lineup.

Petco looks like a good park to see a game. True?
Been there once. It was fantastic. You can even see the game from outside in centerfield. Pretty cool. Stayed across the road from Petco. Super easy access.
