I mean, I'm sure he's in on it and all, but this is getting absurd, should we start to worry about somebody getting popped for blatant IL manipulation?

07/25/24Salem Red Sox transferred C Diego Viloria from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. Left finger dislocation.
GRod went up to join Brannon & McElveny... wouldn't surprise me at all if they added Musett &/or Kleyver & dev listed McElveny.

If anyone else was wondering, yes that's how his nose looks normally and it wasn't actually repositioned half an inch to the left by the ball.

Stanley Tucker to IL. Explains why Yute came in for him after one PA yesterday.

08/14/24 Salem Red Sox placed OF Stanley Tucker on the 7-day injured list.
Ayubi replaces him. Would have preferred Yosander Asencio, but not surprising.

08/14/24 OF Karim Ayubi assigned to Salem Red Sox from FCL Red Sox.
Mikey Romero is also back.

08/14/24 Greenville Drive activated SS Mikey Romero from the 7-day injured list.

My concern-o-meter is suddenly pushing toward the middle of the yellow, instead of the yellow-green border.
yeah really don’t want to end the year two years in a row with a significant injury but that’s what it looks like

The thing is it doesn't sound like a significant injury. Is he just being cautious? Are the Sox? Very JD Drew-like, and I absolutely love the guy.

I feel like they (the entire organization) have been much more cautious this year, for sure. He tried to play through his injury last year and it went really poorly, and I feel like the whole organization has been treating the minor league injuries much differently this year than last, and I wonder if Mayer's struggles last year are playing into that at all.

I don't think anything about last year's injury makes me feel like he's injury prone... he fell hard on his shoulder in a fluke play & tried to play through it for months.

This injury is a bit weird because it's some nebulous hip/butt thing that doesn't seem like it's tied to any one specific incident. So I'm a smidge concerned, whether it's just supreme caution or not.

That's just wild, 188th pick this year and a 300k bonus, he's not exactly a nobody and it's not like he's burned out after a long milb career. Hope he's okay.

Jen McCaffrey mailbag, question on Noah Song:

“He’s doing well. In his throwing program and throwing daily. Optimistic about his progress. We will see how ST goes, but he’s strong, showing good progress,” said Abraham, who also noted Song won’t face live hitters until later in the spring so he’ll likely stay in Fort Myers, Fla., for extended spring training to continue to rehab instead of heading to a minor-league affiliate.

“Overall very pleased with his progress,” Abraham added.
