05/26/24 Greenville Drive placed OF Caden Rose on the 7-day injured list.
Rose to the IL makes Bleis to Greenville that much more of a no-brainer for me. But not my call for some reason.

It could be Jostynxon. There are two spots- I know you have been an advocate for Elmer, but I would personally like Yordanny to end his rehab and return to Greenville. I'm probably going to catch them this coming home stand and think he is more interesting.

Jhostynxon is definitely a possibility, too, & he's played a lot more games in A-Ball than Bleis. Just not nearly as fun.

I've been pushing for Yordanny's return ASAP, too. There's plenty of room for both in the Greenville rotation right now, though, as lots of guys aren't giving them depth.

This past week they did:

Tuesday - Perales
Wednesday - Rogers + Gabe Jackson
Thursday - JDE
Friday - Adams
Saturday - Early
Sunday - Mullins

With Sandlin out & Perales promoted, Early is really the only guy in that group who I would consider a priority starter who you could hope for 6 innings from on any given day.

JDE has shown some improvement this year, & has pitched a season high 5 innings in 4 of his 7 starts, but he's not really a high upside prospect.

I'm a Mullins guy, but he profiles as a reliever long term & has only gone 5 innings once this season.

Rogers similarly profiles as a reliever long term & has had even more control problems this year than last year. He's also only gone 5 innings once this season.

Adams can easily go back to his bulk relief role. Jackson is a bulk guy & can be de-prioritized or unstapled from Rogers without much concern.

So with that in mind, my proposal for next week would be...

Tuesday - Rogers & Jackson
Wednesday - JDE
Thursday - ERC & Adams
Friday - Early
Saturday - Mullins
Sunday - Yordanny

Yordanny last pitched on Tuesday, so if he's on the same schedule as the other affiliates, he can do sidework Monday & slot right into Perales's spot.

ERC pitched yesterday, so normally he would be on for Friday, but he pitched out of the pen & only threw 3 innings (57 pitches), so I think slotting him on Thursday works.

Or we could get even more aggressive...

Tuesday - Rogers & Paez
Wednesday - Wehunt & Jackson
Thursday - JDE & Adams
Friday - Early
Saturday - ERC & Mullins
Sunday - Yordanny

We'd be kind of out of pitchers in Salem, but there is definitely room here.

06/06/24Portland Sea Dogs activated RHP Felix Cepeda from the 7-day injured list.

06/06/24Portland Sea Dogs placed RHP Angel Bastardo on the 7-day injured list.
Bastardo injury creates an opening in the Portland rotation, but not sure anyone is ready to step into it. Connelly Early?

Lugo is OK, via the Worcester Telegram:

...in his first at-bat Friday, Lugo took a pitch from Rochester right-hander Thad Ward directly off his left wrist. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder came around to score before being pulled from the game to receive X-rays on his wrist.

“Everything is fine, no broken bones, just a bone bruise,” Lugo said. “It’s all good, just feeling better today.”

“Definitely dodged a bullet,” WooSox manager Chad Tracy said. “I think we were all holding our breaths like, ‘Oh did he fracture his wrist?’ But luckily, he did not.”

....

“(I’m) excited,” Lugo said earlier this week. “Unexpected to be (promoted to Worcester) this early in the year. But the work I’ve been putting in the offseason, spring training, throughout the year in Portland, has paid off, and just looking forward to getting going in Worcester.”

In four games with Worcester, Lugo is 4 for 12 with two home runs and seven runs.

“Just trying to continue what I’ve been doing. Keeping my routine. It’s a bone bruise, I need to play with the discomfort a little bit to start, but I’m just planning to keep my routine,” Lugo said. “Let’s see how I feel Tuesday.”

Maybe we need Drohan back after all.

Zach Bryant told me he has wrapped up his rehab stint in the FCL and is flying out to Portland tonight and will be reporting to the Sea Dogs tomorrow.

He originally told me about a week ago he would be heading to Greenville first to ramp up but that plan has changed.

Portland is kind of out of healthy pitchers, & Greenville recently got Yordanny, Paez & Wehunt, so that's probably part of it.

Good news, though. Bryant recently turned 26 & when he last pitched regularly it was in '22 for Portland.

Nicholas Judice was promoted to Salem on June 6th but hasn't gotten into a game for Salem since then & is now on the IL.

06/16/24Salem Red Sox placed RHP Nicholas Judice on the 7-day injured list.
Judice has gotten into 2 games all season. Both were in the FCL, both were 2 innings & in both he allowed 1 run. He last pitched on June 4th.

Not sure what happened... but this isn't usually a good list to be on...

07/10/24DSL Red Sox Red placed RHP Charlie Zink on the restricted list.
