We need a "Day golf today" thread like the "Day baseball today" under the Sox forum. Feels like the Open Championship week where I can get started in my home office and flip on the TV for a major golf event.

Definitely a stupid question and I think an obvious answer but I assume the pin location for these guys finishing is the same as yesterday and then the grounds crew follows the last group around and changes them for the day 2 placements?

“Day seems determined to make a fashion statement. Pants yesterday, billboard for a shirt today.”

If they pump Scottie's tires one more time and have to say "no disrespect to Bryson" lol. I'm already drunk off this drinking game.

Meanwhile Bryson is in the clubhouse saying 'Disrespect taken, sir.'

Bryson already mystified by the wind.

Also, Knost and Bacon just mentioned it, but the story of his irons is wild. They went into it on Live From last night but I guess the face is curved or a bulge like a wood or driver and not flat like typical irons. Supposedly helps a mishit stay on line. They just got approved by the USGA on Monday and he put them right into the bag.

I had not heard about this before your post.

He's easy to hate, but I love that when he does shit like this with his equipment to stretch the limits of what is possible. Good article on it here:

But I thought the pros were opposed to bifurcation?

DJ is +10 and as far as I can tell has yet to make a birdie in 25 holes.

Edit: And Bubba goes double, quad, double on 10,11,12

The pros were generally against a rollback entirely. No one actually thinks 99.999% of golfers need or want to hit the ball shorter. But the question presented to them (and the OEMs) by the ruling bodies was whether they would accept a rolled back ball for professional play (the Modified Local Rule ("MLR") ball). The pros said no, they wouldn't adopt it for Tour play which basically killed the MLR since it would effectively only be used in events run by the USGA / R&A and probably the Masters.

Edit: And the idea that there isn't de-facto equipment bifurcation already due to the scope of what's available to the pros makes everything a bit more ridiculous.

Tiger’s short game rust seems to be wearing off. And his mobility looks really good, which is heartening to someone with ankle arthritis.
Get your ankle fused!

He looked really rough to start the morning, Dottie was basically narrating an obituary, but as it's warmed up his mobility has gotten better.

Hah - I was diagnosed with this about a year ago and was thinking the same thing. I've basically just accepted that some moments or days I'll be playing in pain (and I walk almost all the time).

Exactly. That's admittedly what I was saying - in my sarcastic way (my apologies).

Something like this with Bryson's 3D printed irons getting quick USGA approval may be the extreme example. But even just having the money to get the latest equipment, access to the manufacturers, free trials of equipment, etc, means these players are living in different world than the rest of us.

He’s been shaky since. Bad iron on 6, now goes right off 7.

Also I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as deep into the pine trees on 13 as Bryson right now.

The wind looks nuts, took all the break out of Homa’s birdie putt on 18 and both Tiger and Day had to wait out sandstorms off the bunkers.

The 18th hole is playing like it should be on a Northern Scotland links course. Holy moly is that one tough today.
