This game is sort of a joke, in my opinion. The US AllStar lineup seems unbeatable. It is odd that Cuba even made the playoffs, given the quality of some of their games earlier in the tournment. That Cuba only got one run out of the top of the inning is pitiful.

Lazo has had his share of Cubano sandwiches. And no problem getting more of them in Little Havana. Cubs playing the US in Little Havana is all kinds of awesome.

I think the tournament is intentionally designed to help it end up as a Japan/US final, the two home teams, not that they don't have to win tough games along the way, but the US getting the winner of Cuba/Australia in their semi (and not really because of upsets) is a very nice respite for them between that Venezuelan epic and Japan or Mexico.

9-2 after 5, they have a shot at a mercy rule seven inning finish here, which would save the pitching staff for the final even more.

Trea Turner would be pissing in a cup for a sample if this was the MLB. What in the world has he been eating? MVP.

Mookie Betts getting to play 2B for a bit, and having a blast with it, is the answer to any curmudgeon who thinks this tournament isn't fun.

WBC complaining is like the inversion of the traditional complaining of "it's all about the money with players these days; what ever happened to playing just for the love of the game?"

Who? I looked him up, a 34yo Dbacks pitcher who blossomed late after pitching in the KBO. Anyone know him?
Had a really underrated 2022 season but more of a 3/4 on a good team. Not a big strikeout guy, which is not ideal for a do-or-die game like this.
