My current theory is they made really elaborate uniforms for the team only to realize yesterday that they used United Kingdom instead of Great Britain.

They might be the laziest uniforms ever in a high profile event. Like someone typed "Great Britain" into the uniform maker and left it in default text.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they used a really awesome font, but the designer forgot to create outlines and it wasn't compatible when they sent it to the manufacturer so they got the default font.
I like how I could switch from the end of the night game in Phoenix, right to the middle of the morning game in Tokyo…24 Hours a day of baseball.

That explains better why the Italian reliever went so nuts after coming in and stranding the bases loaded in a 6-1 game. I mean, I get being excited, but pretty sure I have literally never seen a pitcher celebrate even half that much between the mound and the dugout.
It's exciting until you realize that they are just jockeying for the right to get destroyed by Japan in Tokyo next game.
