Is there just less coverage of AO this year on ESPN/ESPN2? They're putting more on ESPN+? Not even throwing a bone to ESPN3?
I love waking up and having late matches still going on espn2I feel like I’d also be able to wake up around 630 eastern and watch it live on espn 2 if there were still matches on? With so much on espn + it actually makes me want to avoid the app more out of spite.
Usually I think they stick with matches if they're showing them, Patrick McEnroe tweeted yesterday they'd be on until at least 5 AM every night, but then last night they weren't, despite the high profile Coco/Raducanu match, so dunno. But will espn 2 be airing tennis or the Keyshawn show?
will be interesting to see if brooksby can give Ruud a scare…
Gutsy hold to close it out!Volynets is a qualifier who has never played a top 10 player before, she lost 2 games in a row to bring it back to 3-2 but then bounced back very strongly and won the next 2, 5-2 now. Kudermetova with some terrible plays to lose her serve just now, a long hard-fought game, four deuces, then she double faulted and hit an easy sitter at the net into the net.
Has there ever been a better tennis name than Volynets? Like you couldn’t even make that up.I seem to remember they usually start slow the first few days, the Monday night playoff game this year didn't help.
21 year old American Katie Volynets has #9 seed Kudermetova in trouble, up 3-0 in the third now.
3rd year in a row Ruud has had a horrific time with injuries down Under.Brooksby finishes it off 6-2 in the 4th, great win although Ruud was very unimpressive.
And then gets hammered in the 5th, 6-2. He only had two break points the entire five sets, 1-2, Popyrin went 4-11.First time two Americans have defeated the top two seeds since the 94 French Open.
Fritz saves a match point on his serve and wins the 4th set breaker 8-6.
