After seeing the Japanese pitchers in the WBC, I wonder if Yoshida will compare American pitchers unfavorably this year.
Great at bat for Yoshida to draw the walk after a borderline strike 2 call that put him behind in the count.
Yoshida, Turner and Casas should help extend and turnover this lineup a bit more, hopefully affording the team a few extra ABs and scoring opportunities as the season progresses.

I like him, and had started to type my question just before he gave up the homer, so I didn't mean to imply he shouldn't make the team.
We are going to need as much pitching as possible.
I thought our bullpen was so much improved, but now I am having doubts about that, from Jansen's health issues, whatever they are, all the way down.
Definitely concerned about Schrieber. Don't know if he's just working on something specific this spring or what, but he looks like he has really regressed. August/September wasn't exactly "light's out", either, even if the results in September continued to be pretty good.
That's because instead of coming off like a guy you'd like to have a beer with, he's more the guy you'd like to pour a beer on.
The sad truth is he isn't worth wasting the beer on. Expired Egg Nog, sure.

I have no idea if this will actually work when the game starts, but MLB.TV is free for every game today (probably the rest of spring training I bet), and despite me being in MA it did just let me open up the Red Sox game and get into the "event will begin shortly" stream. Maybe it won't be blacked out locally since NESN isn't carrying it?
We're not out of Spring Training and I'm ready for the Tanner Houck Experience to be over and done with. That's a good sign, right?
