no he’s notCora chatting with Mike Lowell in the dugout. Anybody know if the latter is one of the coaches for P.R.?
I think they are going to be good this year. Maybe not ALCS good, but not getting routed in the AL East like last year. My bet: Win a wild-card game.So what's the consensus? Are the Sox going to be good this season or this ST performance "Fools Gold"?
I don't know how we can tell when at least half of the innings and half of the at-bats are going to guys who won't play a single regular season game (and they're facing opponents that are in a similar situation). So what's the consensus? Duvall is a career 75 wRC+ hitter in March/April, compared to 96 overall. Part of my concern with him is that he will start so slowly he'll get booed out of town & be of no value to the Sox.I can't remember Duvall having one impressive AB this ST. I'd far rather have Tapia.
Well we can hope it points to a strengthening of the farm system like we've been hoping for. OR it can just be a small sample size of blind luck (LOL)I don't know how we can tell when at least half of the innings and half of the at-bats are going to guys who won't play a single regular season game (and they're facing opponents that are in a similar situation).
Can't help but think there's an element of Tapia playing for a job versus Duvall having a job and just getting his reps in when it comes to perceptions right now. Duvall is a demonstrably better player than Tapia over the course their careers (97 OPS+, 10.4 career WAR vs 83 OPS+, 0.8 career WAR). He's the guy the team will be better off with during the regular season.Duvall is a career 75 wRC+ hitter in March/April, compared to 96 overall. Tapia is 79 in March/April & 80 for his career, so he's probably not the answer, though.
You never know what goes on inside a player's head, but given his age and career arc, I don't think that early-season fan hostility will enfeeble him; especially if slow starts are something he's familiar with.Duvall is a career 75 wRC+ hitter in March/April, compared to 96 overall. Good news. A few days off just means he will be more well rested for the playoffs.

Apparently you can use NESN 360 if you have a cable/satellite subscription that includes NESN. I wasn't aware of that.If the Sox are undefeated after today, I'll start believing in Santa Claus.
@Red(s)HawksFan are you sure you have to "pony up" for nesn 360? I didn't but maybe that's b/c I have nesn already through Directv.
Yeah. There's a difference between starting slow for the Reds & Braves and starting slow for the Red Sox when the fanbase was already fairly vitriolic over the off season. But who knows? I'm just not particularly optimistic about the Duvall experience regardless. He doesn't even particularly mash lefties. I'm hopeful Mondesi gets in soon & plays well enough to move Hernandez to CF & Duvall to more of a 50-60% role than an 80-90% role. You never know what goes on inside a player's head, but given his age and career arc, I don't think that early-season fan hostility will enfeeble him; especially if slow starts are something he's familiar with.
Tapia is 29, so not exactly young, & is a worse defender.I looked up last seasons ops from both Duvall and Tapia. Duvall had .677 and Tapia .672. So not much difference. Tapia is younger and maybe could be expected to improve.
Working for me via FirestickI am clicking on the game but not getting it.
Having the same issue. Streaming NESN or NESN+ through a browser works, but not the game stream. Not that I should be surprised that NESN doesn't work properly.I am clicking on the game but not getting it.
I think "NESN 360" is a separate entity, even though you can log in with cable provider credentials and such.Having the same issue. Streaming NESN or NESN+ through a browser works, but not the game stream. Not that I should be surprised that NESN doesn't work properly.
I'm on nesn.com/watch and it has a link to watch the "NESN 360 Exclusive" stream of the game, but it leads to a page where the video fails to load.I think "NESN 360" is a separate entity, even though you can log in with cable provider credentials and such.
Very few of the NYY are playing. I think I saw the # was 3.How come Lurch didn't play in the WBC?
