Bruins picks today: 92, 124, 188, 214, 220
We'll see if they add others via trade. Sweeney has not made an NHL player for a draft pick on the draft floor since 2015 I believe.

Watched a lot more draft than I had planned, as my 11 year old son had 3 buddies serve as runners for teams, on stage handing out the jersey to the draft pick. Needless to say he has questioned a lot of my life choices...
Bruins take Center Christopher Pelosi. He’s a 6’ 2” left shot center from New Jersey, played in the USHL last year in Sioux Falls who’s heading to Quinnipiac next year.
Chicago is taking cap from everyone right now. Corey Perry is heading there from Tampa for a 7th. That’s after taking on Josh Bailey from the Islanders.
Played for my alma-mater, Mount Saint Charles Academy, in beautiful Woonsocket, RI.
Perry is a UFA so that wasn't a dump. They want him, like they did with Foligno. Veteran leaders to put around Bedard.
The Bailey move was a pure cap flex. They already bought him out and got a 2026 2nd round pick for him.
They have $24 million in cap space but need to basically build an entire defense.
Never expected Pelosi to be drafted this high. He was ranked 120 for North American Skaters. He will do another season for Sioux Falls before heading to Quinnipiac. There is no question he will get outstanding coaching and development in the weight room at Quinnipiac.
Bruins take Beckett Hendrickson at 124. 6’ 2” left shot center . Is in the US Development Program & Committed to Minnesota.
Why the discrepancy between rank and where he was taken? Is this fairly common in NHL draft?
After the first round, it’s fairly common for organizations to rank players differently than Central Scouting.
Yeah, outside of the top 30ish it's a crap shoot and players go all over the place.
CS also keeps the list for North American skaters and International separate. There's no master list they do so he's 67th among NA skaters but who knows among all eligibles.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that they won’t pick a big, left handed center with this next pick.
I mean there are colossal, franchise trajectory changing fuck-ups, but those are few and far between. Other than that pick though, I would argue the drafts have been better than they were under Chiarelli.
And that was a case of guessing wrong on a guy. If they reached for Sebastian Aho, nobody would have minded the reach.
Exactly. No one should blame them for the Zboril pick. He was the consensus guy to take there. Sometimes guys just don’t develop like they should for whatever reason. And DeBrusk was right in line where the took him, and now he’s a really good player for them. Senyshyn was a bad reach and a mistake and they know it, and I think they’re learning from it with how they’ve drafted since.
Bruins take Ryan Walsh at 188. A 6’ 1” right shooting center playing in the USHL for Cedar Rapids. The Rochester NY native is committed to Cornell.
Seems to be a pattern this year 6’1” + USHL centers heading to college hockey. This one shoots right and looks to be heading to Cornell next year and not 24/25.
Bruins take Casper Nassen. A 6’ 4” 205lb RW from Sweden. Hopefully he doesn’t ghost them when it’s time to come over to North America. I guess that he’s committed to Miami Ohio in 24/25.

Last pick is 6’ 5” 213 lb Swedish defenseman Kristian Kostadinski. It definitely seems like there’s an emphasis on getting more size into the organization.
Not a bad final pick for the B's.

Kostadinski has the frame that scouts salivate over and the instincts and natural ability to be a player in the NHL one day. Still, while his ceiling may be relatively high, his floor may be what causes him to fall down the draft board. Kostadinski is likely to take a few years to fully develop into an NHL-ready talent, and it’s unlikely he’ll jump to North America any time soon; he’ll probably be drafted somewhere in the mid-stages of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, making him a candidate to go somewhere in the third to fourth round range. A team taking him in the 85-120 range is probably getting fair-to-good value for a player like Kostadinski.

A potential 5th rounder in the 4th. (Hendrickson)
An overager in the 6th round. (Walsh).
An overager in the 7th round. (Nassen).
And a guy who projects to be Derek Forbort in the 7th round. (Kostadinski.).
Feel the excitement.

Hendrickson did improve his draft stock during the second half of last season and climbed up the NHL’s Central Scouting rankings significantly to 67th overall after he sat 94th in January’s mid-term rankings. It is looking like he could be taken in the fifth round, and don’t be surprised if the team that selects him is the Wild, bringing him into the organization with his father.

People forget that Forbort was a 1st round pick. Literally any NHL regular that you get on an ELC through the draft is a win.
