How the f do they call that 3rd. The 2nd was bad too
The 2nd was worse. There was virtually no contact, the defender threw her head back, and the official, who was behind the play and screened from it, made the call. Really Really Terrible.

That all said, I don't know if I've ever seen a shooting performance like LSU just put on! Holy shit!

Carson having the game of her life at the right time. Unbelievable! Perfect.

LSU is rolling with Clark on the bench because of fouls. Carson is absolutely on fire. Has LSU missed a shot the last 5 minutes of 2nd QTR? If they did I missed it.

LSU's last 13 minutes were absolutely perfect.

Iowa needs some buckets to fall.
Game is close to over unless Clark can pull out some magic. I think she can, and her supporting cast is capable, but LSU has to start missing and Iowa needs to knock some more shots down

LSU kind of acted like they won the game with the last shot at the end of the half. The Hollywood narrative would have Iowa gamely plugging back into the game in the third.

True. Carson's interview at halftime was almost conclusive. "We're prepared for this, we're not surprised" I think I heard her say

Personally I'm still reeling from this quote:

Angel Reese: “I think LSU, by itself, has put women’s basketball on the map. We’ve grown women’s basketball for being who we are.”

Meh, anything that takes the arrogant UCONN fans down a peg is fine by me.
I'm not talking about just a UConn perspective. Go ahead and tell Tennessee, Baylor, Notre Dame, South Carolina that "LSU by itself has put women's basketball on the map."

Hell, tell it to Caitlin Clark, who's basically gone viral along with the tournament this year.

Personally I'm still reeling from this quote:

C’mon…every good, confident athlete says something like this…

“I’m all about growing the women’s game,” Clark said after toppling Indiana in the regular season finale last month, “and I’m glad I’ve given something that little girls can scream about at the top of their lungs.”

Seriously. I don't follow it that closely, I guess.
The COVID stuff, I suppose?
She coached Britney Griner. She was so upset with her for coming out as gay (“it’ll hurt recruiting”) that she publicly refused to say that Russia should release her from her detention, only offering a “no comment.”

I don't want to belabor the point during this game but that Clark quote is a far, far cry from saying "my school by itself has put the sport on the map." I mean I'm not exaggerating the quote, she literally said "by itself."

It's a little weird since she only played one year at LSU.
Think you’re focusing too much on a sound bite in a first-of for her and the team.

I get it…a lot of folks here want Caitlin & Iowa to win…she’s amazing!! I’ll look forward to seeing her play in the WNBA some day. But there really hasn’t been much recognition of what Reese and this LSU team has done. They have 9 new players this year. They’re playing in the final.

They want to review that for a flagrant?!

Edit: And the one they reviewed on Reese earlier was stupid to review as well. Neither of these could possibly be flagrant fouls.

It's a great story, no doubt. I'm not sure it's one of great historical significance, beyond demonstrating how good a coach Mulkey is.
