LeBron was very quiet for awhile, but when the lead shrunk, he started asserting himself

Lakers D has been intense

Can’t stand that Laker role players are stepping up
LeBron has been pacing himself a lot in these playoffs.. letting his team play and stepping up only when he thinks it's absolutely necessary. Other years I think he used to tire himself out and only be able to bring it some games, but not all. This year he seems to be playing the same way throughout.

Feels like the commentators are way too enthused about a defensive quarter where the Lakers let the Nuggets go 8-16 from the field and got good looks pretty much every time down the floor.

I don't understand this sentiment. Why would they be fucked? Obviously losing a 20+ point lead is not ideal, but it's one game.
Both these teams are undefeated at home these playoffs, the Lakers stealing home court would have been a big deal.

But they didn’t.

The Lakers losing the ball then basically giving up with 15 seconds left was incredibly weird

Taking home court is big, but I'd say it's a far cry from series over, which is the sentiment those posters were expressing. It's very possible someone loses at home this series.

Am I nuts or do the Lakers have to feel pretty good about this series? They need to clean things up on defense but they seemed to figure Denver out in just one game.

I mean, not a great way to close but the Nuggets never relinquished the lead. A bit of complacency and lack of execution but never felt like Denver was not in control of this game

The Lakers wasted a very good Anthony Davis game and this was the most likely game for them to steal given the time off. It's possible they can win the series but I don't think tonight was a positive in anyway. Lakers got close in the fourth thanks to some great shooting from Reaves and a very tightly called game getting them into the penalty early, which also prevented Denver from getting into a proper flow on offense (they still shot 50% for the quarter though, so not exactly lockdown D from the Lakers despite what the announcers were trying to sell).

Has Steve Javie ever disagreed with the officials?
of course not, but the interesting question is, has Steve Javie ever offered a coherent explanation for why he's backing up the call on the court? "Well you know Mark, if you really look at it, they're looking for contact there and they got it, so I think it's the correct call". Just a bunch of word salad. Honestly I have no idea what anyone thinks Javie adds to the broadcast. A well-trained parrot would do his job just as well, and be more entertaining.

Sure, but sometimes winning a road game 1 can win a series. NY had home court against MIA, lost game 1 at home, and the home team won the next five, series Miami. Home court advantage is especially important for DEN but both of these teams are mich better at home.

Nugs give up 72 second half points and almost let Game one slip away. The Lakers shot 55/46/88 with six more made FTs. Denver shot 55/47/77 and had 17 more rebounds. AD and LBJ combine for 66 points, and Jokic and Murray combined for 65. Very entertaining game.

First time they’ve lost a good AD game. Denver knows what they’re in for now, and it’s time for the average AD to show up.

Putting Hachimura on Jokic and AD on Gordon is what stopped the flow of the Denver offense.

Los Angeles by way of Roxbury
34/21/14, just absurd. AD had 40 points and 10 rebounds.

Still think it's more likely that Jokic repeats that performance game in and game out (maybe not the rebs) than AD does.

We'll see if Rui is up to the challenge of guarding Jokic every game.
