I have brought him up before, go check out his fielding page over at Savant. The dude ever learns to hit (he hit pretty okay in the minors) and he is going to be a monster.

Yeah, I first heard about Doyle towards the end of the season in some pieces talking about the awards. The defensive metrics for him are off the charts.

So some fans will go crazy about stuff like this but I've always welcomed an otherwise meaningless vote for guys that are deserving of some recognition. It would happen quite frequently with HOF voting especially when the ballot wasn't so jam packed with steroid guys.

Snell also historically elite at stranding runners - at 86.7% he had the 7th best LOB percentage of all time min 150 innings - just above Pedro 2000 and Gibson 1968 who both had 86.6%. Pretty amazing list - Verlander 2019, Kershaw 2017, and Gooden 1985 plus Snell himself from 2018 above him.

If Ohtani really wants to win, he should join Acuna. Would be playing in playoffs every year.

Cleveland's playoff hopes dying did coincide with Naylor's oblique injury. Of course, that narrative never actually works... reminds me of Manny's final season in Cleveland. He was the best hitter in the league, but he missed a month and a half to injury, during which time Cleveland went from 1.5 games out of first place to 9.5 GB, but he only finished 6th in MVP voting.

Felix Bautista beats Chris Martin for AL reliever of the year, which I think is defensible but only cause he pitched 20% more innings.

Devin Williams takes it in the NL.
