Northeastern has made the top 25 poll for the 1st time in program history. Wins over #9 UConn, #10 Duke, and #19 BC, an 8 game winning streak and 7 weekend series winning streak got them there. They even catch a brake with a cancelation of an RPI killing game with Stonehill. Huge game at #23 Maryland looming next Tuesday, they are getting close to that at-large bid should they lose the conference tourney.
I saw them play in a weekend series recently. They're just relentless offensively and can also pitch very well. I think they should be in the at-large conversation at the worst case and probably deserve one but my team in 2011 went 42-12. lost the conference tourney, and did not make the NCAA's.

Yup. If you are not in a major conference it's autobid or bust. Am getting excited for what is shaping up to be a pretty good regional with some combo of BC/UConn/NU, but lot of games left before that happens.

James Tallon's 11th save equals the program record. He is tied for the ACC save lead with Wake's Minacci (thanks to B.C.'s comeback, blowing Minacci's save attempt! )
James enters with a one run lead and two on and one out in the eighth facing the heart of the Miami order. Two impressive Ks.
Miami is stingy at home. It will be tough for Duke to take another in this series. Their pitching is thinned out now.

Maryland takes two of three at Penn State to win the regular season Big 10 title. My son plays on the Terps D2 club team and is a comp sci major so he’s been doing data crunching for the varsity team this season. His upcoming assignment is to break down the pitching tendencies of the four teams the Terps may face in the opening rounds of the conference tourney, TBD.

Such a weird season. Maybe they'll be able to host a regional after all with a strong showing in Arlington?
And proceed to lose the first two Big 12 conference games and get eliminated this morning. Big time low point for this program - they should never lose to Kansas schools back to back. Ever.

Zero big 12 hosts/seeds is wild (but deserved)

Kudo to BC making sure that Harrington meets the requirements to host a regional. It would not need to be held off campus.

BC plays Clemson today to advance in ACC tourney with its ace fully rested.

I hope so with it only being 5 years old (and feels younger)
They may also actually have enough parking if the theology people have cleared out

Penn won the Ivy bid so it appears one (between them and Army and Maine) goes to Charlottesville another to BC, and the 3rd to Coral Gables? (As the 4 seeds)

Actually 3 SC possible sites so those are possible too

Terps win Big 10 tournament 4-0 over Iowa in Omaha. They won’t host a regional as they did last year but they’re coming into the NCAAs hot.

Bad day for BC. They also lost out on the chance to be a Regional host. Guessing Auburn or Kentucky got last seed? Not sure though.

My WAG is Maine going to Winston-Salem and Army to Charlottesville.

Here are the sites hosting:
https://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/article/2023-05-28/sixteen-regional-sites-selected-2023-ncaa-division-i-baseball-championship

The 16 regional sites, with host institutions and records are as follows:
  • Auburn, Alabama – Auburn (34-21-1)
  • Baton Rouge, Louisiana – LSU (43-15)
  • Charlottesville, Virginia – Virginia (45-12)
  • Clemson, South Carolina – Clemson (43-17)
  • Columbia, South Carolina – South Carolina (39-19)
  • Conway, South Carolina – Coastal Carolina (39-19)
  • Coral Gables, Florida – Miami (FL) (40-19)
  • Fayetteville, Arkansas – Arkansas (41-16)
  • Gainesville, Florida – Florida (44-14)
  • Lexington, Kentucky – Kentucky (36-18)
  • Nashville, Tennessee – Vanderbilt (41-18)
  • Stanford, California – Stanford (38-16)
  • Stillwater, Oklahoma – Oklahoma State (41-17) through games of 5/28
  • Terre Haute, Indiana – Indiana State (42-15)
  • Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Alabama (40-19)
  • Winston-Salem, North Carolina – Wake Forest (47-10)

Auburn does not deserve to host a regional. At all.

Texas gets a favorable draw - gong to Miami as the 2 seed with ULL and Maine. They’ll still blow it I’m sure.

Penn beats Auburn (ranked #13 in the country) with three straight successful bunts in extra innings.

(semi-related, the (Fighting?) Quakers as a mascot seems to raise all sorts of issues... have there been talks about a new name?)

I'd love to hear about bat sponsors/contract for college teams. If a team has a bat sponsor, do all the players have to use that brand bat?

Contractually yea they do. Our special pricing/free stuff is contingent upon 100% usage of bats and gloves. Could someone sneak another bat in? Sure, but if your rep or someone higher up catches it on tv you will get shit for it.
