And we have 6 starters there also.Mills is on a MiL deal, so I'm not sure that's locked up.
That’s fair. Especially with the news that multiple starters will be on pitch counts / innings limits, that could increase the chances for a potential long man like Crawford / Winckowski at the expense of someone like Mills.Mills is on a MiL deal, so I'm not sure that's locked up.
Just for giggles this is copied from the opening post.To start the year, looking like: Jansen, Martin, Brasier, Ort, Bleier, Winckowshi, Schreiber, some lefty not yet selected to roster.
Jansen - closer.Houck - high leverage reliever/alternate closerMartinSchreiberBarnesRodriguez (LH)Brasier (inexplicably)Taylor (LH) (if healthy)The 9th is probably Crawford, who should probably be given a spot over Brasier, if he replicates his 2022 campaign.
After Crawford are Darwinzon (LH), Mills, Kelly, Ort, and German. AAA arms on the 40 man also include Winckowski, Mata, Seabold, Murphy.)
He got lightheaded on the mound. Cora says he's gonna be fine. What happened to Jansen tonight? I can't find anything as to why he came out of the game.
Thank you.He got lightheaded on the mound. Cora says he's gonna be fine.
Given Jansen's medical history, hopefully this is an isolated incident and not a sign of something more serious. He got lightheaded on the mound. Cora says he's gonna be fine.
One more bullpen spot is up for grabs. It will go to Kaleb Ort, Oddanier Mosqueda or Ryan Sherriff.
Yeah, Joely's injury handcuffs them a bit, but I think trading Dalbec, getting rid of Ort & letting Alfaro walk if he wants to, while elevating Tapia + Sherriff makes the most sense.Hmm, guess I miscounted, didn’t realize they had one more spot up for grabs. Now I have no clue how they are getting Tapia, never mind Alfaro, on the 40, since it seems like Ort’s spot will be taken by him or one of the other non roster pitchers.
Unless they make a trade, the candidates are Sherriff or Mosqueda. Or, Ort. None are really compelling options. You can't go with only one lefty (and that being Bleier), right?
Kansas City optioned Taylor to Omaha yesterday...Unless they make a trade, the candidates are Sherriff or Mosqueda. Or, Ort. None are really compelling options.
Wonder if they’d have any interest in swinging a deal to bring Josh Taylor back. Probably not.
Zack Kelly: "Definitely emotional for two reasons. One, because I care. I care about this game, these guys and I enjoy doing this. Two, just all the shit I went through to get here. It’s just a lot. Whenever something like that happens, you get emotional about it."
He’s supposed to fly back with the team after the game and get the imaging done per today’s broadcast.Any word on Kelly?
Further imaging on Zack Kelly revealed that sling which attaches to the ulnar nerve had become detached. That means Kelly will have to, for the second time, undergo a brace surgery., similar to the one that Trevor Kelly underwent in January. "He'll be out for a while,'' confirmed Alex Cora.
yes, I didn't even notice that.He must mean Trevor Story in that article, right?
Maybe, although Crawford got the 7th and 8th in a nail biter last night. The pen has been mostly good and I have to say that Winckowski's turnaround has been amazing. One thing that has me slightly concerned is that if Cora keeps both him and Crawford as sort of designated long/bulk guys we're likely to see more of Ort and Brasier in situations that we might rather they not be in.
When guys like Joely Rodriguez, Martin, and Paxton come off the IL Right now there's no one else on the 40 to take Ort's spot in the bullpen. The moment that any of them are ready to be activated, Ort needs to be sent packing. He still has options IIRC (ujnlike Brasier) so that should be an easy call.Starting to wonder what actually needs to happen for Ort and Tilt to be sent packing. The number of chances they both get are just amazing. WHIPs of 1.78 and 1.50 respectively with no recent examples of actual MLB mediocrity, let alone success.
At what point is their continued existence on the roster nothing more than someone refusing to admit they were wrong?
Brasier's had an odd year. He allowed runs in four games and he entered:Starting to wonder what actually needs to happen for Ort and Tilt to be sent packing. Not that it necessarily means he's pitched well, or that it's any indication of future performance, since all the appearances count, but his WPA fits in with this as well, as he's a positive .2 wins, largely fueled by his 1-2-3 save in the 1 run win over the Angels.Brasier's had an odd year. He allowed runs in four games and he entered:
Down by 3
Up by 12
Down by 5
Up by 8
In his mid to high leverage usage, he's been very good. It's not like he's cost them any games.
He also leads the AL in appearances, fwiw.
Does Bernardino have any options left? Perhaps he gets Orts slot when guys start coming off the IL.When guys like Joely Rodriguez, Martin, and Paxton come off the IL Right now there's no one else on the 40 to take Ort's spot in the bullpen. Long term there may be an issue or two. Options (per fangraphs) in parenthesis:Does Bernardino have any options left? Perhaps he gets Orts slot when guys start coming off the IL.
Just checked, it looks like he has 2 remaining options.
& for mankind as a whole.A small victory for Bernardino, who has pitched well and deserves to stay up with the big club.
I believe he was saying something about back tightness in an interview after the game.Did we hear anything about why Kenley got the trainer visit tonight?
More than one of us was hoping he’d get Clocked.Ort optioned
Kaleb Ort has been optioned to Triple A Worcester, per source, which would likely make room for Chris Martin.

The one option Brasier doesn't have is throwing with his left arm. Bleier can be mediocre as hell, but he should stay ahead of Tilt.Brasier doesn’t have any options though right? I still suspect that he’ll remain…. Bleier will go before him.
If Joely Rodriguez is the next to come off the IL, I'd think he takes Bleier's spot, or Bernardino's. Don't need three leftys in the pen unless they're lights-out.The one option Brasier doesn't have is throwing with his left arm. Bleier can be mediocre as hell, but he should stay ahead of Tilt.
