I lean towards block myself but it’s real close. 50-50 type play. That’s not a charge

Agreed. She has hit some huge shots when it looked like Iowa had no offense beyond Clark.Huge second half from Martin.
All the not-Clarks play calm. Not easy to do.Huge second half from Martin.
Pretty good.Is 37-7-12 any good?
Don't miss every foul shot and it isThe game isn’t over Iowa.
2 more 5pt possessions ties it upThe game isn’t over Iowa.
Reese has?Bad job by Ryan, she already announced she's leaving.
You know, I went and looked up the latest WNBA mock draft, and UConn seems to have three first-rounders on their roster (no other school has 2): they've got Edwards at #6, and Nika Muhl sneaks on at #12 now, aside from Bueckers who would go top-3 if she wasn't returning next year.My feeling was when Aubrey Griffin went down that was the last straw of injuries that would keep us from the final four. Paige is great but that made the available useful players so low that IMO it's a bridge too far now. Hoping for the best of course but thinking we're probably at the end of the road. Watching USC a number of times this year they are pretty darn good. Back in the day of beautiful "less contact" basketball you could do it but now that we have the "roller derby" style of physical play it's almost impossible to have any gas left in the tank to play an entire game. Let alone stay out of foul trouble. Heck you don't even have to committ real fouls, since the game is now too fast for the refs. Ask Edwards about that from her experience in the last game.
As an aside, Paige was exhausted at the end the last game because unlike Clark she actually applies a LOT of energy to her defensive game.
I love Nika but if the WNBA drafts her it will be a miracle. You know, I went and looked up the latest WNBA mock draft, and UConn seems to have three first-rounders on their roster (no other school has 2): they've got Edwards at #6, and Nika Muhl sneaks on at #12 now, aside from Bueckers who would go top-3 if she wasn't returning next year.
Say what you will about his injury luck finally running out, but Geno can still recruit like crazy.
So you're saying UConn has 3 first-rounders by projecting drafts beyond this year… and no other school has 2 – because you're ignoring future drafts for those schools? That's not how it works.
Fair, I'm no draft guy, just saying I may have underrated how UConn's depth compares to other elite squads. So you're saying UConn has 3 first-rounders by projecting drafts beyond this year… and no other school has 2 – because you're ignoring future drafts for those schools? That's not how it works.
Dunno, I thought the same about Dolson, I thought she was fungible. 10 years in the league and counting.I love Nika but if the WNBA drafts her it will be a miracle.
They should have, considering the last one was just a year earlier, in 2017, and that had the same massive numbers of people traveling to see it.They scheduled the location and dates for this year's final 4 in 2018, pretty sure they weren't thinking about an eclipse happening 6 years later at the time
Physical mismatch and his team is ahead. Hope they can keep it goingGeno looks and sounds like he's outgunned and knows it and cant believe its still close.
Geno has 11 titles and on the merits of his teams' talent, probably deserves 6 or 7. The man knows a thing or two about how to coach a team that can steal a game they have no business winning.Geno looks and sounds like he's outgunned and knows it and cant believe its still close.
Agrred. Both can be true.Geno has 11 titles and on the merits of his teams' talent, probably deserves 6 or 7. The man knows a thing or two about how to coach a team that can steal a game they have no business winning.
Obviously Geno is great but he’s had the best player in the country with Bird, Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart. That’s like 8-9 titles just from those guys. He’s had enormous talent on the floor for his titles.Geno has 11 titles and on the merits of his teams' talent, probably deserves 6 or 7. I still think USC wins this but UConn has already made it interesting. All the fouls here do suggest a bit about how well UConn can contain USC's penetration dribbling though (i.e. not well)
Uconn does have two all Americans on the floor (Paige and Edwards) and a two time all conference player (Muhl). They have the ability to win this, but they can’t keep picking up stupid fouls. It feels so wrong saying it, but basically hoping they can get through this on Mystique and Aura.
No I know, but the foul trouble like you said combined with razor thin bench, the second half is terrifying me. Absolutely critical that Aaliyah avoids an early 3rd foul.Uconn does have two all Americans on the floor (Paige and Edwards) and a two time all conference player (Muhl). Yep agreed. That last foul on edwards was terrible and a killer. No I know, but the foul trouble like you said combined with razor thin bench, the second half is terrifying me. Absolutely critical that Aaliyah avoids an early 3rd foul.
After watching the replay not really but they called it.Shit, and there's another Nika foul.
Sadly that was incredibly stupid by Nika there. Literally nothing to gain on that and risked picking up her fourth, which is what happened. Soooooo dumb. You can't just play smart because the refs suck for the most part. Have to be lucky too.
Yes he's had stars, but I'm talking about having the best team in the country. For example, the Skylar Diggins era in Notre Dame ended title-less despite having the talent to beat UConn in the Final Four multiple times, and UConn getting them back in 2013, despite UConn starting "Freshman Breanna Stewart and a couple of teammates who owe their brief WNBA careers to Breanna Stewart" (UConn absolute had the best team and deserved to win in 2014 and 2016). I could go back and pick over the top 5 or 6 teams in those title years and argue that UConn had the best team in more than half of them, but definitely not all of them. The Maya Moore years were perhaps his most impressive run of coaching up a team, beyond Moore and the oft-injured Tina Charles he had nobody of note, and had back to back undefeated seasons. Dude is not just a recruiting wizard, he's a team-chemistry wizard. His teams win when they're supposed to, and plenty of times when they're not supposed to, too.Obviously Geno is great but he’s had the best player in the country with Bird, Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart. Foul trouble is going to catch up with UConn tonight. :-(
