You don’t have David Stern as a mentor and not learn a thing or two about exercising control over the players.

What I am wondering is when the hell do the owners, who Adam Silver works for, put a stop to this? Why go to the freaking trouble of installing a no days off rule to suit TV/advertisers only to turn around and go out of your way to regularly kick players out of games?

Then again this is probably management creating a false problem to use as a bargaining chip or some nefarious bs like that.

What is even the excuse for that? What was the pretense for him swinging on Nurkic? Nurkic isn’t even doing anything and Draymond swings at his head?

Kerr being peppered in the post game presser about Draymond and how to keep him on the floor. He looks like Belichick up there right now hating every minute of it lol.

Eventually, there is no difference between reckless "potentially" intentional behavior and just regular intentional behavior.

Draymond does this stuff so much more often and so much more aggressively than anyone else in the NBA.

In a vacuum maybe you can squint and claim some of these individual acts are just reckless clumsiness. But taken in totality, it's clear the guy is just a lunatic.

Get him out of the NBA ASAP.
Out of the NBA? When he retires, he’s going to be front and center as a face of the NBA working at TNT, ESPN or NBA TV. He will be celebrated.

Your first sentence is it. It's all about control. Players were opting out of games. Now they are being forced out. It's stupid and I hope they course correct. Except for Draymond. He's welcome to sit for a good long while.

He seems like a completely fine, well-liked guy off the court.

For whatever reason, he becomes dangerously insane between the lines. Hopefully he can be pushed into a media role sooner than later: he'll provide good content and stop endangering other players.

PDX did some nice work under the Liliard trade demands

With every Draymond ejection the Golden State '24 First heads further into lottery territory.

Just need to move Brogdon (Orlando, Wolves, Lakers, Miami interest?) for some assets.

Yeah there is no "potential" recklessness when you are backing into someone and do a 360 clothesline move. Shit is going to make an impact. That has a half-hearted fake of stumbling around.

Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving is on the sidelines in a walking boot and crutches. Kyzuzu should've gotten the name of Lebron's chemist when they were both on the Cavs.
You think flat-earth loving, vaccine-denying Kyrie is going to be ok with designer PEDs? He seems more like an "organic Fenugreek" style guy.

According to Darryl Mayberry of the Athletic, the "magic word" Jokic used was "MotherF*cker," which the official obviously felt was directed at him.
That's crazy. Malone addressed this in the presser about what he was told Jokic said and his response was that from where he's from that word is a term of endearment. While maybe a slight stretch for that to be an auto-T and ejection is completely bonkers!

Stick him next to Pat Bev. Draymond can call various guys soft while Beverly snorts and makes snide comments about Chris Paul.
My God....this is pure nightmare fuel. Maybe they can have that bozo who does Pat Bev's podcast with him moderate it.

According to CBS Sports, here's the entire Malone statement:
According to Nuggets coach Michael Malone, the official felt that the language Jokic used warranted an ejection.
"The official that tossed him, he asked me 'did you hear what he said?' and I said 'I did not,'" Malone recalled. "And I will not use the phrase that Nikola reportedly used, you know, but he just felt the language that was used warranted an ejection, a one-tech ejection.
"Which I was very shocked at. When I heard what he said I said, 'I don't understand the problem because when I grew up that was a term of endearment in my house.' But unfortunate for Nikola, obviously he was frustrated. Felt like he got fouled on that last post up. And they decided to toss him. But obviously we need Nikola out there. He's a great player, but with him out, with Jamal out, everyone else stepped up."

I'm thinking that Malone had his tongue firmly in cheek when he said that but he was a basketball child so maybe he heard lots of things other kids didn't commonly hear.

Calling an official an MF'er or something along those lines has gotten players run in the past. Its not like its unprecedented or anything.

Now I just want to know more about Jokic's other terms of endearment growing up...this has SNL skit all over it.

Pearlclutching over foul language is my favorite kind of pearlclutching.

I hate the whining atmosphere in the NBA (and really at all levels of basketball) and don't really have a problem with officials lowering the standard for ejection if it cleans up some of the more demonstrative displays, especially coming from stars.

BTW, Denver Post describes Malone's comments as joking (not "Joker"): https://www.denverpost.com/2023/12/13/nikola-jokic-nuggets-react-ejection-referee-mousa-dagher-bulls/.

DeAndre Jordan is correct - Jokic should be cursing in Serbian, not English.
Right? Guy has a competitive advantage that he's not taking advantage of. A friend of mine is a competitive tennis player (at a lower level) and laughs at being able to get away with cursing at line judges in Portuguese.

Isaiah Stewart is completely overwhelmed guarding Embiid

Joel has 30pts + 10rebs at the Half

Edit: unsurprisingly, a frustrated Stewart gets tossed when he blindsides PatBev with a forearm shove.
He had enough of the 76ers clowning them, a fair amount of showboating from Philly

Aaron Nesmith got smacked by Bobby Portis after a hard takedown of Giannis. Old Aaron is getting a bit of a reputation as bit of an edgy player.

I saw the replay of that foul and really think it was a nothing burger. Nesmith was clearly not trying to hurt him. He was basically holding him up so he wouldn’t fall.

Thanasis did prove himself to be a complete clown but I think everyone already knew that

Portis has got crazy-eyes on par with your avatar. He looked at Nesmith there the way Marsellus Wallace looked at Butch when he sees him on the street in Pulp Fiction.

Avatar-worthy, imo.

Giannis confuses me.

Sometimes he sounds so well spoken and likable.

Sometimes he is such a nutjob.

I'm surprised how bad Detroit is. Cade has always been overrated and is not very good. But even so, they should be better than this.

Also a bit surprised the Spurs are just as bad as last year with Wemby.
