1-2 to start the year, but the win was how they drew it up: adequate pitching backed up by an impressive display of offensive firepower. If Buxton and Correa are healthy, they're MVP candidates, and the rest of the lineup is full of players I'd describe as somewhere between decent and good. Will they overtake the White Sox? Will they make it out of the first round of the playoffs? Will I be able to maintain two separate Adopt-A-Team threads? We shall see!

Do you expect Royce Lewis to spend the whole season in AAA? He is absolutely on fire down there after returning from his injury, and I just don't see any way for them to fit him on the roster right now.

It will probably work itself out, right? If this group stays perfectly healthy all year, I’ll be surprised.

It's just so frustrating that they can't seem to land or develop a #1 starter. They'll never be a real postseason threat until that happens.

The Twins are masters of pulling anyone out of AA or AAA to play OF. Some guys that really arent even replacement level. Celestino, Cave, Refsnyder, and Garlick are prefect examples of baseball dreck. I see lewis getting 100 AB at least, because he actually has promise. Lewis can play the left side great, but its likely they will toss him in the OF as well just based on need.
The main question is how long can Buxton stay healthy. Will shedding 20 lbs actually help Sano not strike out?

Another note about the Twins: online sites discussing them are a bit lackluster. Where are the Sons of Shane Mack?

Berrios was a 1B. Short 2020 season, but Maeda finished 2d in the CY voting. They’ve just consistently been on the bad side of the dice roll in the playoffs. But yeah, I guess I’d agree that they’ve always been a little short on pitching over the past 30 years!

Yeah, but get out and walk around the park. It's honestly one of the better ones. And if you're staying in Minneapolis itself, there's no reason to drive to the park.

Yea we have to be in Chippewa Falls the few days before but extending the tip by a night. We’ll drop the rental car at the airport, check into a hotel there (I guess the IC since it’s walking distance to the terminal), then take the metro downtown for the game and back to the hotel afterward. Have a 730 am flight home Tuesday.

behind home seats will be cheaper, but the champions club has way more to it. Regardless, any decent level seat will be good. Let me know what time you are thinking. I'll see if I can come down. Usually in the end of august I'm over seas in Kenya.

It’ll be Monday, August 29. What I do in Baltimore is wait until 3 hours before first pitch and buy on stubhub - the market us at the bottom then, usually get a first 10 rows behind home for less than $60.

Just catching up now to see that Buxton left with a knee injury. Hoping it isn’t serious, but with his history it’s tough not to assume the worst.

What he did last year has got to be some kind of record - either 4.2 (Fangraphs) or 4.5 (bbref) WAR in 61 games. I know there was no shortage of candidates last year, but that’s an MVP-type season. Really would love to see what he can do in a full-ish season, but his body just won’t cooperate.

I think the depth of Minnesota's rotation gives them a leg up on Detroit and Kansas City and puts them on the same tier as Cleveland. Joe Ryan is off to a great start and seems like his ceiling is higher than previous projections of him. Dylan Bundy is probably a mirage, but I expect decent results from Sonny Gray and Chris Paddock. I didn't realize how much their offense has fallen off since a few years ago, though.

Max Kepler was the one I feared back then. Given his background – the lack of experience and top flight competition relative to what most MLB players grow up against – I thought his best days were still ahead of him and he might have a later-than-typical peak, but he's really just been a disappointment with 2019 now looking like a career year. I'm not sure a lineup can have sustained success relying on Kepler, Miguel Sano and Gary Sanchez. They all seem like slight variations of the same fatally flawed hitter.

How Correa has more strikeouts than Sano, I have no idea. But the Sano experiment is running out of rope I believe. The Twins are going to try to put their best team forward, but I dont see them making .500 again this year.

SSS alert, but I have to laugh that with Gary Sanchez the Twins are 4-6 with a 3.81 ERA when he's behind the plate. They are 7-2 without him and have a 2.87 ERA with their other catchers.

Most of that is Ryan pitching to Jeffers in each of his starts. I do hope that Jeffers ends up catching about 60% of the time. Sanchez can DH or PH in those games.

Not counting last night's game, the hitting is starting to turn around. And the starting pitching surprisingly hasn't been bad. I'm wondering how long it will last as its currently hasn't unraveled yet. Sano is day to day, but sounds like he will be in the lineup tonight.

Sano has got to go. .148 SLG? Blech.

In other news, Royce Lewis is hitting the shit out of the ball in AAA (1.028 OPS).

Correa may have a broken finger after being hit by a pitch last night, Lewis may come up to replace him.

Bad luck for Twins but I’m really interested to see Lewis. Killing the ball and has 8 steals. Could be a dynamic player.

They've been beating mostly crummy teams. Astros are in town next, and early June sees a run of Blue Jays, Yankees, Rays, which will be a better barometer of how good they really are.

Royce got called back up, played CF, ran into the wall and went on the IL with a bone bruise.
He made a pretty brilliant catch in the process, particularly for somebody who’s played just a handful of games in the outfield in his life.

Hello. I am new to Minnesota and know noting about the Twins to speak of. I remain a Red Sox fan, but since I now live in Minnesota I might as well learn something about the team and upcoming season.

Thanks in advance.
