Also it is evidently much hotter there today than it’s been the rest of the tournament, Novak put on a hat before the second set.
I swear, you're the only person I've ever seen who calls him "Novak". There are so many better names you could use (fuckface, asshole, douchebag, and so on).

It’s just shorter to write than Djokovic, your hatred is kind of funny.

NOVAK lost I think just six points on serve in the 2nd/3rd sets combined, 9 service games.

NOVAK breaks to start the 4th, looking like this won’t go too much longer.

Gutty hold from Norrie there, NOVAK still up a break at 3-2.

I'm legitimately curious which of us is closer to how the average American tennis fan feels about Djokovic. No doubt I dislike him more than most, but at the same time, I feel like his approval rating is very very low, so the fact that you like him at all is an outlier.

I hate his stupid celebrations, like that idiotic thing he did when he was lying on the ground in his last match, looking around and around to make sure everyone was paying attention to him. Does he still do that thoroughly embarrassing thing where he shoves love all over the place, or whatever he says he's doing?

Novak Djokovic is the fucking devil.

Djokovic and Krygios have only played twice, both hardcourt wins by Krygios in 2017.

I think it's because his game is just not the ideal of what everyone thinks a tennis player should be. Roger is graceful. Nadal with that amazing forehand. Novak does everything at a A- level, and that's enough to obliterate his opponents. I wouldnt be betting on him in the final though. I think Kyrgios is a dangerous mix of motivated and at the top of his game

That has absolutely nothing to do with why I (and millions of others) hate him.

Thing is, for a long time I actually preferred Novak among the Big 3 - I remember a video in which he did impressions of other tennis players' mannerisms that was really charming, and he seemed like a model pro and with a very mature, professional attitude toward the sport. Alas, it's impossible to ignore some of the stuff he's said and done and the positions he's staked out in recent years.

That was impressive. Thought she might get boat-raced after the first, but she was incredibly poised for a younger player and just hung in there.

Wouldn’t have been eligible for this tournament if the Russian Tennis Federation believed in her as a teenager.
First Wimbledon champ (men’s or women’s, not juniors) ever whose main residence is in Russia (Moscow even!), quite ironic.

I have the opposite problem of most people in this final, I have been rooting for both Djokovic and Krygios all tournament and really don't know who to root for here. In a vacuum, if this was the only tournament in the history of the world, I would root for Kyrgios but I'd really like Djokovic to end up first on the Grand Slam list and he may be running out of chances.

FWIW, not that anyone really needs to explain their love or hatred for any sports figure/team, but here is why I have rooted for Djokovic basically his whole career. When he emerged, Federer and Nadal were already dominant and clearly historically great players and it seemed like anyone else's ceiling was #3. Federer was so good and seemingly effortless, that's no fun to cheer for for me. Nadal was obviously great from day 1 but his way of wearing down opponents with incredible overspin ground strokes was not super aesthetically pleasing to me, although I did always root for him to beat Federer. Djokovic had a bit of the rebellious punk to him from day 1, plus his game was return-centric which I have always gravitated to. His acting like an asshole about Covid certainly hasn't helped my fandom but I'm too locked in long-term to change now, unless he did something a lot worse.

Anyway, it's incredible for any player in any sport to challenge for the best ever alltime, but it's even more incredible when Federer and Nadal were there doing the same thing and a few years more established, like if Steph Curry was drafted two years after both Jordan and LeBron (in this hypothetical, those two are about the same age) and won a bunch of titles anyway.

Yeah you have to stop this, honestly. No one here is evil, it's fucking tennis.
Wow, this is an overreaction. You're openly rooting for an EXTREMELY unpopular player. I'll refrain from writing my own three paragraphs about what a piece of shit I think Djokovic is.

You should expect this kind of stuff, come on.

It's an overreaction??? You continue to use the word 'evil' in a world filled with actual evil and you're a major asshole about it here every single Slam. I normally don't care much because whatever, but don't tell me I am overreacting.

Anyway, let's talk about tennis, fun match so far. I expect Krygios to win the first set and Novak to win the next three, because that is the way most of Novak's matches go these days.

I thought it was pretty clear that all of this was good natured. Like, you actually think I'm calling you evil over this? You OK dude?

I'm fine, but it's annoying, you've done it a billion times now. You hate him, that's great and obviously your prerogative.

And no, I don't think you're calling me evil, because then you'd see me seriously pissed off.

Krygios looks great, dominating his service games and up a break, 5-3 now.

Yeah, this seems most likely.
I once heard McEnroe describe the greatness of the Big 3. He said that Federer's game was the most beautiful ever, and Nadal was the most athletic, but Djokovic was the most cerebral. I think that's part of why being down never seems to phase him.

I don't think he has ever truly loved playing tennis, so that makes it hard for him to work as singlemindedly as needed to get consistent top results.
No doubt because if he did he would be a multiple time major winner by now.

Krygios takes the first set, Djokovic having trouble making any kind of dent on his serve.
