Thank you, I looked for the '22 schedule just a couple hours ago. I was pretty sure they weren't going to play the NL East again next year. Other than the Philly or the Braves. It might be just me but this is the first time they've played the three West Coast teams in a single road trip in a long time.

Dear MLB, please knock it off with games in Boston (or Detroit or Chicago or Cleveland) in March

They're never going to stop. I think there's a better chance they shorten the season and start it in mid/late-April than they put all the northern open-air stadium teams on the road for the first couple weeks of every season. The southern and dome teams don't want more early April games at the expense of summer dates.

Glad the NL Central matchups scrapped in 2020 are back. 2022 was supposed to be an NL West year, but they shuffled the rotation.

I will be at least one of Wrigley/ PNC next season, for sure.

Wow. First time I can ever recall the Sox being in Minnesota after May. Usually the Twins are in Boston in the late summer.

Home opener on March 31st? Yikes.
Such a dumb idea. I remember like a decade (or more) ago, the Sox home opener was on my birthday (4/4/10, it turns out), which I thought was pretty cool. But it also felt a bit early to me. I also remember it seemed like they almost never opened the season at home, with good reason. But this decade it seems more often than not, their season starts in Boston, and it starts earlier and earlier.

EDIT: My brain thought the home opener that year was also the season opener, and my brain it turns out was right. Season started on Sunday night, 4/4, which feels a little weird to me. But it was a good time, I believe it was the game when Pedro emerged from behind the monster to "In the Air Tonight" and threw out the first pitch. Pretty damn epic.

It's written in stone they must play the Braves or the Phillies. (Or both in a East vs East year)

Boston's unfortunately among the 50% (approx) of major league teams where there's no inter league rival worth a damn.

I think so, because of the asinine "natural rival" thing that mandates that the Yankees and Mets, and Marlins and Rays, and Orioles and Nats play each other every year. I think the Jays and Sox alternate their rivalry match-up in the non-East v. East years.

It would be a 6 or 7pm start Chicago time, for whatever that's worth. The 8pm Eastern games are the absolute worst.

I will be shocked if ESPN doesn't have dibs on that game for Sunday Night Baseball.
Figured as much. With the Monday holiday we have the hotel for Sat and Sunday nights, so that will work. It might be too early for all hotels to have rates loaded that far out, but we got a nice place for $250/night and will look for a better deal

It’s a rarity, but I remember the Sox were playing a weekend series with the Twins in the MetroDome when Nomar was traded on July 31, 2004.
I was at the first game after that trade. Saw Cabrera’s HR in his first Sox at bat.

I was also there on June 11, 2016 when the Sox blew open a close game with 5 runs in the 8th and another 5 in the 9th. So they’re not always here in May, it‘s just played out that way for the past few years.

A lot can happen between now and then, but won't the Cubs be battling with Pittsburgh for last in the NL Central around then?

Counting on it. Tix weren't hard to get for 2020 and if the Cubbies remain lousy this year I expect we will be able to get these tix fairly easily next year.

The 2005 Sox at Wrigley tickets were the toughest get I've ever had, and that includes early Hamilton, NBA Finals, and Springsteen pit tix

But getting to see Maddux hit one of his 5 career home runs was worth it, right?

I was at that game, too! I can't recall now how I got those tickets.

Can't say I was thrilled with the Maddux HR, but at that point, you knew it was just gonna be one of those games. They smoked us. But, of course, we were off the schneid and the Cubbies were not, yet.

Would love to catch the Wrigley series. I've only been out there once, and that was for the Oakland series in 2019. I almost saw my first three home run game in person (Semien had two and flew out to the warning track to end the game). Also got to see Lester pitch, but he got shelled

Rays games moved to the end of the season. One double header against the O’s, and the other two games have been shoehorned into off days in the schedule. One makes a three game series a four gamer, and the other is just a one day “series” against the O’s.
