Yes, but it seems longer than it usually is. I keep expecting balls to roll into the water and the rough is stopping them, which is (feels?) new.
The rough being rougher is part of what moving the tourney back to March is supposed to achieve. May is hot in Florida and the rough/course was designed for play in March as part of the Florida swing, before it was moved to Mother's Day weekend.

That's probably it. Seems fairer now. The times of hitting the middle of the green and then rolling off were a joke

Looks like they are going to try and play as long as possible. Rolling standing water off the greens right now but they're still playing.

Spieth hits it on the runway to the 17th green. Should be an interesting stance, on the edge again.

Edit: Nevermind. Lift, clean and place gets him into the middle of the runway.

There is going to be carnage today with the winds in the forecast.
It's already very windy here and it's going to get worse. The temps are going to be dropping too as the day goes on. Tomorrow morning is going to be brutal too. Lows in the 30s and still very windy.

From a fan perspective, this is going to be fun to watch, to be honest. I don't like it when conditions are perfect and guys are sticking every flag. I want to see them have to work.

ESPN+ is the answer.

Guys are having to take their hats off on shots.

Lol they have no chance on 17. Scheffler, Xander and Brooks all wet.

Xander got an 8 and JT a 6 on 18 ... wind-blown into off the tee, then seconds into the water

I just got done watching the 17th featured hole feed on ESPN+. The last threesome playing the opening round was a combined +8. It was incredibly unfair for those finished today, but riveting entertainment.

Xander, Brooks and Scheffler make their second trip through 17. Xander reaches, Brooks and Scheffler splash. 5/6 in the drink

These guys are basically resorting to guessing what club and shot to try to hit on 17 and 18.

17 is playing 136 today. 20+ mph winds. Out of 100 balls how many do you think you could get on the green? I'm feeling like over/under for me is 20.

With no sponsor had and just a plain grain sweatshirt on, Morikawa looks like some grad student that got picked up as an extra for the pairing.

The carnage is just beautiful to see

It’s not that I like seeing guys put up big numbers, it’s that I love seeing them out of their comfort zone. They’re being forced to stop playing simulator golf and flying a ball perfectly to a number and start playing golf by feel and manufacturing shots with creativity and without ego. This is wayyyyy better than Bay Hill last week imo.

Some guys are doing much better than others with this type of test. Kiz is putting together an awesome round.

JT’s flighted 6-iron on 17 followed up by his drive and fairway wood into 18 was some of the best stuff I’ve seen all year.

Rory and Scheffler in at +2. Cut right now is at +1 but has been moving towards +2 pretty quickly. Hoping for these guys to play the weekend...er, Sunday and Monday.

If Malnati or Lowry make play the final few holes over par, cut moves to +2. Rooting for a water ball on 17!
