Mickelson’s statement is an epic combination of self-interest plus self-delusion.

The idea that you would call someone up, speak with them in an effort to influence their book and assume that you are “off the record” absolutely defies belief. Especially for someone who has been in the public eye as long as Phil.

More stunning to me - and obviously more worrying to Phil - is that he doesn’t seem to grasp that even if his comments were off-the-record, his acknowledgement that he did, in fact, say them will alienate his allies and adversaries alike. Which is how he has come to find himself as a pariah to both the PGATour and the “scary motherfuckers” who were backing him.

Norman's involvement should cure any anxiety that the Tour has about competition. They know better than anybody that he's a lock to come up short about 95% of the time.

If you told my 14 year old self that in the future I'd love Nick Faldo and hate Greg Norman, I would be floored.

I was the biggest Norman fan and was crushed watching the 96 masters back 9. I can't believe how much of an ass Norman has become and how likeable Flado has become.

Same here. Except I was 30 and probably drinking and swearing at the TV as Norman's spectacular, but inconsistent, game fell victim to Faldo's comparatively grim, joyless trudge around the course.

Since then, I've realized what an asshole Norman is and it's all good. Belated congratulations, Nick.

This one it's like he pulled the trigger then wanted to stop for some weird reason.
