We discussed it some pre-draft, 2nd or 3rd made sense for a WR because while it's not a need this year, that's a nice spot to find a guy who might need some time. Agholor and Meyers are in the last years of their deals, Bourne and Parker have 2 years, and they could get expensive quick, 4 years at cheap money is valuable.
While agree with this and also would have been great with it, to me I had an assumption that any defensive player would come before a WR. That’s not necessarily a criticism or even a robust analysis, but it is the where my head was. Something along the lines of “grab an impact defender or high floor defender before going for either depth WR OR “impact” WR.
This feels like a medium risk but high reward WR. I think that type of pick is more a lottery ticket you take after you cement in other best player availables.
Now that said, I’ve also been a little skeptical (or optimistic depending on how you think about it) that BB thought the defense was as bad as it looked to end the year primarily because despite the apparent need for athletes and speed at linebacker and in the secondary, he signed McMillan, he redshirted McGrone, he may still think Uche is legit and for all the apparent secondary weaknesses he could still trust his depth their even if he doesn’t trust the top guys.

At this point how can you not feel bad for Malik Willis. He probably thought he'd be set for life a couple days ago and who knows where he ends up at this point but he has lost millions in potential earnings.

I assume Baltimore is ESPN’s main draft board source so they look like geniuses every year when they simply go in order of that.

I think the answer might be as simple as he doesn't think there were impact guys left. Like I wonder what happens if Jordan Davis slides to 21 for example.
With DBs... honestly there is no position I trust Bill more to grab a guy late (or off the street) and manufacture a top player than CB, so if he grabs one of these mid-rounds guys I'll be happy.

Anyone have a list of players no one's ever heard of handy? I'd like to have a look at who I want them to take.

EDIT: I'm just having fun. I have no reason to doubt any of their picks.

During a fantasy draft many years ago we announced we were taking “Rolando Terrace” with like a 6th round pick. There were a couple murmurs of “nice pick,” for a guy we completely made up.

You're in a fantasy league with Mel?

That is well said and indeed I agree.

After I watch Goodell die slowly in a fire with his grandchildren watching, I’ll be content to watch Chris Mortensen keel over on live TV.
