I had 5 years of this with cp3. He always finds a way to bend you over in the playoffs. It'll be some mysterious injury that was never disclosed. 100% on that.

Booker can take a walk too. He's one of the biggest shit talkers in the game and went out with a whimper in a game 7

One more thing on this Suns team, this is the same group that waltzed through the WC playoffs last year when most of the opposing stars (AD, Murray, Kawhi) were injured or out entirely. They had their chance last year, and seem to be finding out it's not so easy when the other teams' all-stars actually show up.

This is where the sportscaster says, "The final score ended up being 123-90, but that was not indicative of how lopsided this win was."

Edit: Beaten soundly to this reference by Huntington Avenue Grounds.

Not sure if anyone else caught it, but at some point in the fourth down like 44, the PA announcer did the whole hype up the crowd act and told the fans to get on their feet and make some noise for the Suns. Really makes you appreciate playoff games at the Garden without all that stupid shit.

I’m a long longtime Celtics fan living in phoenix. My kids were at the Suns game this evening. Chris Paul limped out of the locker room tonight, ive had a quad injury for the last month, he told the press before disappearing into the night. Booker spent most of the first half complaining to the refs before he disappeared into a kardashian-mobile.

So Monty Williams' team loses the final two games by an average of 30 points (and could have been worse, of course) and he gets named Coach of the Year! Bet he'd give the award back to have his team show up.

Didn't realize that Booker got 4th in MVP too. Lol.

Jason Kidd deserves a lot of credit for turning Dallas into a great defensive team.

When he was being discussed for multiple jobs last year I saw it reported that Kidd is a savant the way he understands the technical aspects of basketball, even relative to other NBA guys. Which makes sense given the kind of player he was.

Apparently, Redick has his own podcast now that the Youtube algorithm feeds me constantly and he features a lot of interesting discussions with NBA players and analysts.

After his previous stops, I didn't think he would be very good in Dallas. He came across as the incredibly gifted and intelligent player who was always frustrated that other players didn't interpret the game the way he did, and he was always going to be frustrated by their performance. Him going to Dallas, after Luka had already clashed with another control-freak coach in Rick Carlisle, seemed like a recipe for disaster. I suppose he has grown into the role more and gotten better; he is way better than I thought he would be.

He SEEMS like he would be a great coach because who was a better floor general than J-Kidd? But great players are often disappointing coaches for a variety of reasons, but clearly Kidd has evolved in a way where his incredible intelligence and awareness is effective as an educator and communicator, as opposed to a hinderance.

IMO JJ's podcasts are excellent and he's a great addition to the NBA broadcasts (worlds better than JVG, Jackson, Jefferson, Doris, etc)

Dont discount his year with Vogel. I feel like it helped ground and have a more measured approach. Vogel is also a really good defensive coach.

Yeah, Vogel is a good coach who was in a no-win situation this year.

I read an excerpt from Miran Faber's book on Giannis that talked about Kidd coaching the Bucks, and he came across as a crazy person that would wear out his welcome very quickly, but people conceded that he had this kind of attitude about success that great players would gravitate towards and be motivated by, and it had a profound impact on Giannis, and probably now Luka (and apparently, Jalen Brunson).

There have been reports for years that LeBron always wanted Kidd to be his coach; going back to LeBron as a young player playing with Kidd on the 2008 Olympic team and how instrumental Kidd was in shaping LeBron's approach to success in basketball.

I just realized the CP3 nickname is also the answer to the math equation regarding his record after going up 2-0 in a playoff series.

CP1-4

1-4 still works, assuming all those series went 7 games. After going up 2-0, he finished 1-4.

I don't know if that's the case.

Of course it’s not the actual answer to that math equation so from now on I’m gonna call him CP -3

I was referring to his penchant for losing 4 of the final 5 games of a series, which he managed to do twice.

Maybe if should be CP0-4, because he actually lost more series after being up 2-0 in six games, three, than in seven games, two.

I wonder if State Farm supplies tarnish remover.

I think he's a dirty player and wouldn't want him on my team, but hilarious when he name dropped PG13 a split second after saying he wasn't going to name names.
Yeah.. Beverley to me is all of the worst parts of the NBA in one player

That went way over my head, sorry.

But I do like CP-3

Pat Bev on ESPN trashing CP3's defense, said NBA players call him CONE

pretty entertaining
Apparently, he was on ESPN for hours today, just carrying over from show to show. I guess he's been waiting a long time for this moment, and ESPN wasn't gonna let that gold mine walk out the door so quickly.

"Cone Paul"

Here he is talking about how no one goes to bed early to play Chris Paul. LOL

He's got a job after basketball.
I think so too. I liked listening him to him talk that talk. Don't really care what he's been like on the court.

Edit: The comparison to Perk is apt. Yeah, it's shit-talking his betters, but like Perk, there seems to be a simple honesty to it that you don't often hear from other players. Especially stars, who are often more calculated with what they put out there.

Reminds me of Perk, guys who weren't very good players, who got carried by better teammates, but love to shit talk guys who were WAY better than them
In general, it doesn’t matter to me how good a player an NBA commentator was when I watch him. Any veteran from that league has enough gravitas to be critical when it’s called for, whether its a role player like Perk or RJ, or a superstar like Shaq.

What Pat Bev did regarding CP3 was axe grinding combined with dirt on grave shoveling. There’s a big difference between normal criticism and that. It was entertaining, much more so than Matt Barnes’ defense of Chris Paul.

Once KG educated Perk, he was a valuable contributor. And he has always had an understated sense of humor, lying under that Central TX accent ("grant williams is Big Baby without the multiple personalities")

I am glad he is being featured on the air!

BTW: Shaq's tedium to insight ratio is lousy. He has a blinkered "dominant players must rule" perspective that misses a lot; especially with groups like the celtics who feature team play.

As a long time follower and fan of Kendrick Perkins, I was stunned when he started to make a move up the commentator list at ESPN. He is a unique voice and only figures to get better and better. Perkins certainly knows the game and he’s not afraid to ruffled some feathers.

Yeah, I should also say... they both are full of shit is part of the comparison.

Like JJ Reddick is great, he's insightful, he understands the league, he understands the players.

Perk just shouts nonsense and pines for shitty interior offense, Pat Bev just goes after guys he doesn't like and wants to tear down stars while also trying to get people to tell him he's great.

Perk and Shaq are in some ways a comp, in that Shaq doesn't watch the games so he just spouts nonsense, where Perk I think does, but has no concept of how the modern game is played, which is weird since he's been out of the league not THAT long.

I get the impression that Zach Lowe enjoys being on TV, but pairing Zach with Perk every day on television just seems cruel to him.

I think Beverly includes himself in the "who" or at least I hope he does. So I find him amusing.
Who as in no one talks about Pat Beverly in the locker rooms.

Doesn't Chris Paul have the rep for coming up small or not even playing in big games?
Um. Yes. He does. And I'll just add what no one else is saying: it goes along with him being one of the dirtiest players in the league. Guys who out of frustration punch other players in the nets/try to rip their shoulders out of their sockets and the infinite # of other dirty plays during CP3's career are guys who don't know how to deal with frustration when the going gets tough.

CP3 is the greatest player who is also a dirty choke artist in history.

Jason Kidd deserves a lot of credit for turning Dallas into a great defensive team.
I have to admit, I hate Kidd -- a woman beater and a coaching backstabber in one package! But can't take away the job he's doing with the Mavs...very impressive.
