C’s matched up well, until all of Golden State’s secondary players went super shredder. I’m really not sure who can defend Al and Timelord, though.

Yeah.. I think the Celts will feast inside. And it’s unlikely GS will drive nearly as much with TL inside.. if you play Al and TL together GS is going to have to take a shooter off the floor. Who does Green usually guard?

I assume Wiggins takes Tatum and Green guards Al…but do they play Poole and leave Timelord to feast, or sit Poole and play Looney? Or if they try Green on Timelord, who covers Al?

We are a much tougher matchup for them than Dallas.

The bigger thing is that the Mavs finally got a few stops. They'd periodically had real success on offense, their problem has been that whenever it mattered, they would go multiple possessions in a row without getting a stop.

Didn't realize that last year ended a 37 year streak where a teammate of Shaq's was in the Finals.

(note in 1981, nobody in that series had played for the Knicks prior. but Gerald Henderson and Eric Fernsten would wind up becoming Knicks later in their careers in 1986 and 19831983 and 1986, respectively; in addition Archibald and Billy Paultz had both played for the New York Nets if one counts that).

I'll also note that the article is wrong as if BOS makes the finals, Luke Kornet played for NYK. Not sure how the author missed that one.

edit: sorry, I had Fernsten's and Henderson's NYK years backwards.

A wayyy tougher matchup than Dallas, to be sure. But I think the core eight rotation guys match up pretty evenly, give or take.

Eye of the beholder, but I don't see any kind of glaring mismatch either way, in terms of size, skill, offense, or defense. Beyond that, I think the Ws get a slight bump for home court advantage, more playoff experience, and a deeper roster #9-12 (esp. if Payton and Iguodala are both good to go). I'm perplexed by the 538 model's current 76/18 split, but 538's gonna 538. They had the Warriors as 0.1% shot going into the season, behind the Blazers and Knicks.

Anyway, take care of Miami tonight and we'll chat. I for one am looking forward to the last NBA game of the season that I can watch without needing a stiff drink.
