Tiger's last professional round was actually the Masters in November of 2020. It has been a while and while he's impressive at Augusta, with the results to back it up, I'm tempering my expectations even if he does play. With that said, it would be incredible if he did play.

I'm hoping for it.

I can't imagine he plays if he doesn't think he can at least be competitive enough to make the cut. Doesn't mean he will, but I just don't think that simply starting the tournament and completing a round (or two) is what is motivating him. I'm not getting my hopes up. Though I really would enjoy seeing him out there.

Look at that guy… brick shithouse. He’s definitely playing. No question in my mind.

If he thinks he handle the hills he will play. If there is Sunday Tiger it will be the fucking story of the year.

Would be a hell of a story if he can get out there.

And if he plays Augusta, what kind of performance would he need to put in to decide to come to Brookline in June?

Tiger means a lot of things to me that have very little to do with him as a person. I would openly weep if he made the cut and I got to watch him on Masters Sunday,.

Nike doesn't seem to make the traditional style of golf shoes Tiger typically wears anymore, only sneakers with spikes tacked onto the bottom:

https://www.nike.com/w/golf-shoes-23q9wzy7ok

He's wearing FJ Premiers which are about as traditional as you're going to get these days. Nike also put out a statement too sort of weirdly saying they're working to meet his needs:

I'm guessing Nike's current roster of sneakers just aren't going to work for Tiger. Maybe they'll build something from scratch because it's Tiger.

In the past someone would post tiers of golfers for a pool. Anybody have those tiers handy?

Zapruder film analysis from Chamblee. Also, cart guy in the back is great.

Apparently he's got an afternoon tee time today for more practice. Should get a better read on how he's hitting it with the gates open and people on the grounds.
Ever since we knew he could swing a club, Tiger has been very coy about his return. That’s the smart play, but it’s important to remember that he’s a student of the game and knows very well that Ben Hogan limited his schedule and played the best golf of his life after his car accident.

Thats not to say he’ll win or even contend this week. But he’s not coming back for show.

Anyone have bets in yet? I'm on Brooks 20/1, Spieth 22/1, Oosthuizen 55/1, Scott, 60/1, and Finau 66/1. Also bet on Spieth over Hovland and Spieth over Morikawa.

My plan in my survivor pool was to take Speith this week, but he's kind of scared me off, so I'm not sure who I'm going to take now.

I'm a Spieth honk but don't feel great about his chances this week. He hasn't been good, though he did have his best round of the year yesterday. He's striking it OK (40th in SG tee to green) but his putting has been bad (140th). There's something about him and Augusta though so I'll never fully count him out but I wouldn't bet big on him.

Of the high profile guys, I like JT and Morikawa. JT doesn't have a win but has been trending the past month and a half. Morikawa is the best ball striker on the planet and they say Augusta is a second shot course. He's postivie in strokes gained putting this season which is scary. When he has a hot week with the putter he usually dominates.

Longer odds, Gary Woodland has been trending. T5, T5, MC, T21, T8 in his last 5 starts. The MC is at the Players when he was in the bad side of the draw. He does have a poor track record at Augusta, 9 appearances, 4 missed cuts and high finish of T25, but might be worth a look as a longshot.

I'm going with Brooks in my one and done league. He's been playing some real good golf and plays well at Augusta and is an absolute force in the majors.

I've also managed to miss the cut with Hovland (WM Open), DJ (Riviera), AND Morikawa (Players) in this league which is a remarkable accomplishment.

I have a pool that my friend is running. Just pick 6 golfers, any six, no tiers, and the person with the team with the most prize money wins. Who would your 6 be?

I'm thinking Brooks, Morikawa, JT, Rahm, Rory and Cantlay

Koepka needs a Masters now for legacy reasons.

But let's be honest we all just want to see Tiger play and win it.

I'd guess his plan is play 9 today, off tomorrow (weather iffy + champs dinner), light work and final call on Wednesday.

Par 3 contest is back!
Except it's going to pour rain all day so probably not. I arrive at Augusta tomorrow evening after getting rained out of Tuesday golf. What was shaping up to be an epic trip will now be merely a great one. Of course, if Tiger plays it will still be pretty epic.

If Tiger is in contention around over the weekend, the ratings are going to be off the charts.
Let's face it, everyone will be streaming Tiger's round ending around 2-3pm even if he's DFL during the weekend. Verne Lundquist will be saying 'this is an unusually small crowd for this type of moment' as Shooter McGavin putts out to win the green jacket.

My problem is that i would completely fill up on sushi and have to fight through the cod and beef. I'd do it, mind you, but it'd be tough!
Miso cod is incredible, you would never have to fight through that.

But the beef would probably be something I would skip in favor of more Sushi and cod.
