more buyouts to happen

Maybe add Hauser, his shot looks worlds better than Nesmith

Does anyone have a G-League binky to consider for the roster?

So far this year, one of the best defenders of Embiid has been...... Al Horford. Among all players with at least 20 H2H possessions, he has the lowest FG% and lowest team points.
Small sample (under 20) but the recently traded (then released) Drew Eubanks has been pretty decent if you're trolling the wire for options.

Yeah, I expect them to put Old Man Strength Al on Embiid and let TL roam/play against backups. That might be a specific matchup where you bring TL off the bench too.

He would be interesting taking some of the Langford / Richardson minutes.
If you’re looking for a cohesive defense and trying to win-now Bembry is not the guy you want. For a guy who is so long and athletic he’s about as bad of a defender as you will find. He still doesn’t know how to defend….stands up straight, doesn’t move his feet well or react to action around him. His BBIQ seems to be off the charts low. Hard pass.

I like Gary Harris, too, but isn’t he basically a lock for BKN or possibly going back to DEN?
Probably depends on what he wants. Celtics have the ability to offer playoffs and PT since any wing really just has to beat out Nesmith for minutes. Obviously not a tall task. If he wants to maximize his winning chances, we're clearly not the best option there.

Yup, it's an interesting year in that past Celtics team it hasn't been as clear to see where buyout guys might fit in. Once you get past the ring-chasers, the rest of the buyout guys (and their agents) are looking to maximize earnings potential for the upcoming summer. There is real opportunity for a role here.

Somewhere
Perhaps the new inefficiency in the NBA? Find guys that are skilled!
Stevens had a front seat to witness the fact that back-half first rounders (and later draft picks) don’t tend to amount to much. Often when they do, it’s on their second contract anyways. So getting proven vets <30 may in fact be a market inefficiency.

I'd like to think that he's saying that the end of the roster will have guys with one really outstanding skill. The lack of other skills makes them back of the roster guys, but they will (or could have) a use at a particular time.

I don't know about Kornet here. I'd have signed him to a 10-day and held out for something better. He can't be the best center available on the market, and there's no way he was saying full season or nothing. Seems bad to lock yourself in so early when you had ton of flexibility. Maybe it is a cap thing and a 10-day would have put them over the tax eventually or something.

Had to sign 2 players to rest of season deals before tonight. You are required to have 12 players on full season contracts.

with so many openings across the NBA, Brad probably knew exactly who he wanted to sign weeks ago

a little surprised he didn't sign Valentine and kept Hauser on the 2-way

Valentine is hurt. But also... I think they actually like Hauser and plan to have him on the main roster next year, Valentine is just a body. Moving Hauser to a full contract now also opens up the 2-way for a look at someone then for use next year on our 2nd rounder likely.

Kornet's a good body for injury insurance. He knows the system, can block some shots, shoot the three a little. He'll be fine behind Rob, Horford, and Theis. Hopefully one of Hauser/Nesmith/Pritchard can bring some shooting, and I'm sure they'll try to get another shooter off the scrap heap.

Hopefully Kornet and the tax doesn’t prevent them from getting someone else. Too many bigs on the roster. I’d like to see another wing and a guard

Honestly nobody worth signing is out there

They'll cycle 10 days through the last 3 roster spots (maybe sign a two way) while they wait on buyouts.

Word today is Harris might not be bought out.. Could be a weaker than expected group

I really liked Kornet last year. I think he is legitimately a very good rim protector. Honestly I would rather have him absorbing Embiid fouls as a 4th string emergency center than Kanter.

He’s worse than Harris but word is that Ben McLemore may be bought out. He’d be a worthwhile pick up for this roster

I wonder if Dragic is really locked in on Dallas because of the Luka connection.

With them having Luka, Brunson and now Dinwiddie, they would seem overloaded with ball handlers if Dragic ended up there.

Goran Dragic and the Spurs are expected to negotiate a contract buyout in the coming week, clearing the way to a formidable list of free agent suitors for Dragic that now includes the Lakers:
The Lakers are planning to join several rivals --- including the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors – in aggressive pursuit of Dragic. More coming up now on NBA Countdown on ABC ahead of the Lakers-Warriors game.

Maybe this isn't a new phenomenon, but this completely shutting down players who can supposedly still play thing seems odd to me. I realize that they wanted to prioritize other players - but does that mean you just don't play any more at all?

Or he can become a Laker.
Are the Lakers even appealing as a destination for buyouts now? They're a tire fire on the court, and with road games you only get to spend one extra month of the year in LA this season.

On the other hand, their roster is so filled with JAGs right now that anyone with options probably thinks that they'll get more playing time there.

Yeah, but that would be after guys strike out signing places where they get playing time *and* a good team. The LA/LeBron factor has to be pretty minimal at this point, given the circumstances.

This season's Lakers are the most overrated destination by the media in all of professional sports.

I haven't seen Armoni Brooks at all---what's wrong with him? 38% on threes, 11 points a game for Houston last year. Presumably, some combo of no defense and attitude? I guess he fell off this year so maybe that is viewed as a fluke 20 games
