Broncos selected Oklahoma EDGE Nik Bonitto with the No. 64 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
An accomplished two-sport athlete who received several scholarship offers for basketball, Bonitto (6’3/248) chose to eschew hardwood glory to pursue a career on the gridiron. It proved to be a prescient decision as he was the only player in the nation who recorded back-to-back seasons with a PFF pass-rush grade of 90.0 or more while generating a superb 22.4 percent win rate in that span. His 11.1 percent pressure rate was tops in the nation last year. Bonitto has elite speed and agility that was backed up by an impressive Combine, where he tested at an 85th-percentile level or better in every single test except for the bench, adding up to an elite 9.37 relative athletic score. He gets off the line quickly with a smooth shoulder dip and will bait opposing tackles with a slide step right off the snap that leaves blockers whiffing on contact. Bonitto has enough pop in his hands to keep opponents honest but is undersized against the run and prefers to go around blocks than take them on. Best suited as a 3-4 OLB, he has all the tools to be a pocket-wrecking edge in the mold of Giants LB Aziz Ojulari but could stand to add some size.

Broncos selected TE Greg Dulcich with the No. 80 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Dulcich (6'4/243) emerged as a junior with a 26-517-5 receiving line in seven games. He followed up with a senior campaign of 43-721-5 in 11 games and was named first-team All-Pac-12. Over his final two seasons, Dulcich recorded a 31% yardage share and a 26% target share, operating as a true downfield weapon with a 13.4 average depth of target. Dulcich appears capable of running more than typical underneath inline routes, profiling more as a big slot receiver in the mold of Mike Gesicki. With a 4.69 40, 34-inch vertical, and 10-foot-2 broad jump, he lacks Gesicki's elite athleticism, but still projects to be an above-average athlete at the position with uncommon receiving skills. With Albert Okwuegbunam ahead of him on the depth chart, Dulcich won't see the field a ton as a rookie. However, his pass-caching chops make him the ideal backup to the oft-injured Okwuegbunam.

with training camp tomm here is my breakdown of the 22 broncos

QB - wislon is the guy now that is the biggest upgrade of the 22 broncos we will see if he can cook
RB will go back to a 1-cut system and they have 2 num 1 rb's if they stay on the field they shouild combine for 1'800 yards and 15 td's
WR this is a make or break year for jerdy sutton and patrick should take a step up
TE i ex the rookie to have 1st team reps they will flex albert o to inside wr at times
o-line can they pass block better and give wilson that ex haif a sec he needs the OT shouild be good my issue is the C spot if that does not get fixed will be troble aga a team with stong DE/DT
D-Line i ex them to stop the run but can they rush the passer and sit up the egde
ILB jewell took a step before he got hurt can singletion be a starter type of player
edge is denver deepest spot but also the one with most q chubb is likely a goner after 22 can gregory stay upright can bonito flash they also have reed cooper browning and chris smith a unfa from bama as well
CB strain is a furute star type of a guy can matins flash can k'wan williams replace callihan
S denver is deep enough to have 3 stafty playing in simmons stetns and jackson

overall if Denver was in the NFC they wouild be a 10-win lock but as is i see at least 9 wins that couild go to 11 with a sweep of vegas and beating both zona and sf at home
11 is Denver max and 9 is their floor denver kinda has a soft sch that couild lead to a 9-2 8-3 start there is a shot that the week 18 LAC-DEN game is for the afc west
even if Denver has a lot of inj they should be in the wild card hunt all season

TE and O-line are worries right now the run blocking part and the run def are also worries but the Specie Teams look much better and Wilson should put Denver back into good qb play since 2014

QB the backup qb is a horror show if russ goes down denver is a 3 win team if SF cuts jimmy and if he wouild take a backup contact that would be pefect
RB 3 good RB here no worries
WR they go 6/7 deep here even without patrick great shape here
O-Line Better than last year sll need to work on rub block but last night was great
D-line i worry about stopping the run but hopefully D J Jones makes a diff
Edge deepest part of the team all can play
Ilb griffin has inprove from just another guy to a key starter with jewell
CB top 3 are fine but from 4 on down are worries
S they go 5 deep here

basiccy if russ plays all 17 games this is a 10-7 11-6 team

Appreciate your insight, j-man. Looking forward to seeing Russ drop some rainbows in the high altitude.

Tough division this year, but Denver has a chance to hang with the Chiefs and Chargers.

You still down on Brett Rypien, J-Man?
I watched him pretty closely in college (I'm a Boise fan) and he had an up and down career. I'm pulling for him, but a little surprised, honestly, to see him win the #2 anywhere in the NFL. Happy to be proven wrong.

Literally one of the most inconceivable losses I can recall.

I’m going to this Sundays game at Mile High - I wonder if the crowd will be asking for Hacketts firing, resignation, or ritual suicide.

Huge overreaction to the loss on this teams long term outlook imo. Broncos moved the ball at will and struggled inside the 10 which was a theme with several teams in Week 1. Definitely questionable coaching decisions both in-game and leading up to the game. New HC, OC, DC and QB but you don’t play yoir starters in the preseason? I still expect Denver to be in the playoff mix but their ceiling is pretty capped with a brutal schedule.

Oh, I think Denver looked pretty good, albeit against an opponent I expected to be hot garbage. Just so many self inflicted wounds.

Quoted you but was referring to the general public feeling across the country this morning. We saw in Week 1 the ramifications of a shortened preseason and how many of the teams who underperformed were those same teams who didn’t prepare for Wk 1/play starters in those games.

The defense in the first half is what would give me pause about their season outlook. To their credit, they clamped down in the second half, but Geno’s run to start the game would have me nervous to face…every other Qb in their division. Obviously just week 1 and all that, but between that, Russ looking iffy, and the way the game ended, I can understand the relative trashing even if it’s reactionary.

Defense gave up 250 yards and 17 points. They weren't the problem yesterday, even if it was Geno Smith.

As someone watching the game pretty neutrally, the thing that would scare me about the Broncos was clearly Hackett. And not just the end of the game. They couldn't get plays in on time several times during the night, one of which led directly to the Williams fumble, obviously he was completely overwhelmed end of game, just even by calling the timeouts after his decisionmaking had contributed heavily to the loss - Hopefully it's just a night of tremendous jitters for a rookie, but as a leader of men, I wouldn't feel great that he'll keep the respect of that room if he continues to handle game management that way. He was absolutely atrocious last night - your coach should not be the worst performer on your team, and I'm not sure second place was even close.

I live in Seattle and have watched many Russell Wilson games, and he frequently had problems getting snaps off in time. So I'm not sure you can lay all of the blame for that aspect on Hackett. I don't know how much of it is because of Wilson, either, but now I've seen him do it for two different teams, two different coaching staffs (albeit with a very small sample size with Denver).

I heard some of the press conference on the radio and I couldn't tell what he meant. He said they should have gone for it, but then went into all the reasons the decision to kick made sense.

I got the sense he meant "the kick didn't go in so obviously I wish I made a different decision" rather than "looking back on the decision and evaluating the situation, I made the wrong call".

Perhaps I didn't hear the full story but the part I heard was a bit confusing.

The questions asked shouldn’t even have been about the kick. If I’m a reporter in that room I’m going with, “So you have the ball with 4 min to go and 3 timeouts from your own 22. How in the name of Rick Upchurch does it take you 4 entire minutes to gain 32 yards?”

If they used tempo early in that drive they still could have had reasonable time remaining for a second drive had the first one failed.

he also said he wated to use up the clock so that seattle wouild have no time left he way overthink this denver played well on def in the 2nd haif esp in the 4th q this is why every team should hire a madden player to scout the team u play that week and to go over game management like what to do on 3rd 4th last 2 min of both haifs and last 4 min of game

u can laugh at this but most playbooks in madden are 99% ture to life and someone said a few years ago Rams DC Rheem morris wouild do this

The coaching at the end of the both halves was fucking abysmal. He called 3 straight runs from the shotgun at the one inch line….not to mention the complete tire fire at the end of the game. That was seriously one of the worst coached games
I have eher seen and his post game press conference was a complete clown show.
He will probably get a 2nd year out of pity (and not wanting to admit how awful the original decision was) but there’s no doubt in my mind Hackett is the new Adam Gase

Def B+ or A-
special teams c
Coaching F

yeah we won but at this rate if the off keep going at this pace denver will only win 7-8 games and waste a top 5 def

I was at the game - literally one of the worst nfl games I’ve ever watched. Natives are already very restless; if I was Hackett I would rent not buy. 13 penalties plus another three or four declined? Good grief.

yes it does not look good but i think they were looking ahead to next week in primetime plus a win next week and a 4-1 start is on the table

looking back at it mcdaniel or daboll shouild been the choice but denver has a borderline top 5 def clean up the penaltles and this team will be in most every game
