I know…..and then he continued his workout without a limp for several minutes. Where are our docs here?
Not quite the athlete that KD is, but I rolled my ankle playing tennis 5 weeks ago. Hurt like a motherfucker, was convinced I would be sidelined for a while, but walked it off and finished my match. Went to orthro next day - torn ligaments. In a walking boot for 4 weeks. Am just now starting to move around OK.

Now, I immediately was limping and took me 10 minutes to continue playing, so not exact parallel but I think we have seen enough time where these uber athletes get hurt, continue playing, then are shut down for weeks/months

These All The Pickz deals for aging players are so freaking dangerous, and (many) people underestimate the risks every single time.

The thing is, it doesn't even have to be KD getting hurt: CP3, Booker, even Ayton would all put the Suns in precarious territory.

Obviously KD is the nightmare scenario, and the odds of random stuff like this keep going up as he gets older.

Nice comeback in the 4th for the Nets (after being down 20+) vs. Milwaukee @ Fiserv.

They ultimately lost.

Really weird box score on this one. The Nets starters played a total of 62 minutes and scored 15 points (bench had 5 players in double figures and two 20-point scorers). I didn't watch the game, but I'm guessing coach was fed up with them early.

The warriors are like #1 pick tanking level bad on the road. It's so odd. 7-26. Only the rockets, spurs and pistons are as bad.

Can you even imagine how much heat Mazzulla would take in Boston if these were his results with a team who won a Championship 8 months ago? Kerr gets a lot of passes thanks to what Curry has done for that organization.

Tyrese Haliburton had 19 assists tonight in an OT win versus Houston. It tied him for third highest this season with Chris Paul (you can argue that they are second because the two higher assist marks were both Harden at 21 and 20). What a monster season.

The Nets didn't dress 3 of their starters: Dinwiddie, Cam Johnson, Nic Caxton

plus whatever the hell Ben Simmons is these days

it's pretty hard to put Steve Kerr (the player & coach) in the same sentence as Joe Mazzulla BUT since you did

Do you feel Joe is getting heavily criticized by the fans or Boston media?

Pretty good finals preview in Sacramento right now.
The Kings are a pretty nice story and really fun to watch, but they are a legitimately bad defensive team (26th in defensive rating) and unless they draw a 1st round opponent with a similar dearth of playoff experience (Utah, Minnesota, OKC) they'll likely be heading home in round 1. It's no mistake that despite having the 6th best record in the league, they are 14th in the current NBA title odds (just behind the Knicks).

Fwiw, here in Sac, I think fans are just genuinely excited for their team to be relevant again. Talk about this team is how much chemistry the team has, how much chemistry the team has with it's fans, and looking to the future, rather than being deluded into thinking the Kang's are title contenders.

Certainly, and they should be. Almost an entire generation of NBA players have come and gone since they last made the playoffs (the only active players who were around when they last played in the postseason are Lebron, Haslem, Igoudala and Paul), in their shoes I'd be ecstatic with this year, title chances notwithstanding.

I meant the guys who started this game. But yeah, the "starters" not being regulars could have contributed to them not playing many minutes, if that's what you meant. Still, 62 minutes and 15 points is nuts.

Not counting this board what I hear from friends back home (total casuals), read on FB, etc it’s outrageous. You never heard people wanting Udoka replaced last year yet all I hear is how we need a real coach even though we are 6 games ahead of where we were at this point last season.

Came out of nowhere in a pinch, 2 days prior to the start of training camp.
Mazzulla Ball was historically the best NBA offense ever over the first 1/3 of the season. Pretty quickly Joe was getting credit, from the NBA media, about the pace/3PA approach.
The defense took a step down this year, but that's been mostly explained away with TL missing a good chunk of the season.
Named NBA All-Star game Head Coach.
Named Permanent Head Coach after IME contract sorted out.
The Celtics have been the #1 seed in the NBA and odds on championship favorite for most of the season.

So far, Year 1 has been a magic carpet ride for Joe Mazzulla

He has raised some eyebrows with his unorthodox TO usage and maybe MPG for the JAYs, but that's about it. ATOs, player buy-in, rotation use and his bench development have received kudos. Maybe that cesspool of NBA Twitter has been rough but it's pretty much been rose petals from the NBA Media/Port Cellar.

I was impressed with how the Nets battled back without those 3 (or 4 if you count Simmons).

Your point is completely legit. Only 15pts from Harris, Curry, DFS, Bridges, Noel is terrible no matter how you slice it.

Seems to me Kerr has earned some passes on his own.
I think he’s the most overrated coach of the last two decades in a league where coaching in general is overrated. His greatest skill imo is allowing Curry to be Curry.

He stepped in for Jackson as Curry/KT/DG were coming into their own. When he missed time with his back, Walton won like 40 games in a row, whenever Curry has been down they have lost and sometimes lost a lot (which they would do with any coach), they go nuclear in the finals and win, and this year have severely underachieved. He’s a solid NBA coach…..like 20-25 others. Imo of course.

I co-sign this. I don't think Bob Myers is a particularly good GM, either. He inherited Curry. Totally blowing the number one pick on Wiseman is further proof of that.

Embiid with the gorgeous game-winner, spoiling Thybulle's return to Philly. That gave the Sixers their first and only lead of the second half, I believe.

Los Angeles by way of Roxbury
Portland's offense in those last 5 minutes was absolutely atrocious. Iso dribbles into bad shots - we're really spoiled with the Celtics, that was stunningly bad.

Nurkic also continued his bricklaying at the free throw line, missing 4 straight before finally sinking an and-1, but it wasn't enough.

I think Kerr is a good coach but I can’t dispute much of what you’re saying. Honestly, what this proves to me is that Mark Jackson is one of the worst coaches in nba history. When you consider he’s also one of the worst analysts in NBA history, his awfulness is mind blowing

I haven’t seen an NBA team have as much fun as these Lakers are in a long time. No Russ, No LeBron……just a bunch of guys balling and loving it. Reeves, Vanderbilt, Hachimura, Russell, damn even Schroder are celebrating plays like it’s an NCAA conference tournament.

The Bucks are a frustratingly good 9-5 without Giannis this year, and are giving the Warriors (in SF!) a game in the 4th quarter. Frustrating on multiple fronts.

He had time to pass to Steph, no? I get that it was designed for Dray to shoot, but…
Would've been tight. It would have had to go back to Steph immediately, and he would've had to immediately put it up (and even then it might not have been enough time). With Steph inbounding the ball, really the only way he could have had a shot is if the Bucks didn't guard the inbounder (obviously they weren't going to do that).

When you’re the greatest coach of all time and can waste the greatest shooter of all time as an inbounder to get Draymond Green a clean look you simply cannot pass up this opportunity. Gjge Steve aka Goat Kerr.
