Kyrie will implode once he's in. It's fun to watch. This is simple--never, ever root for the Lakers.
There is, conceivably, a universe in which Lebron/AD are the two best players in any given series and their role players are good enough to set them on a title run. There is zero chance that Kyrie/Luka, at their absolute best, are good for anything more than a few exciting shootouts. Their defense is just too bad to be of any use after round 1, if that. I'll be happier when the Lakers are dead.

Right - this is the way. You and BMHH have convinced me. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Fuck the Lakers forever.

If DAL misses the top 10 in the West, the #1 they owe the Knicks this year will not convey (top ten protected) and that will annoy me greatly.

Just one more welcome consequence of the Mavs missing the play in entirely. I'd still rather see the Lakers miss everything, though.

Is there really a universe where Lebron/AD are the best two players in any given series? If the Lakers play the Celtics.. are you really thinking Lebron/AD..in their current states are better than Tatum/Jaylen? And you'd also be worried about their role players being better than Horford, White, Brogdon, Smart, Timelord, etc?

I'm not saying it's likely, just that it's more probably than Luka/Kyrie making a deep run. You could squint at the Lakers and say that they've gone 35-28 since their 2-10 start (a win % that would put them at the 4th spot in the West) and they are 12-7 since the trade deadline, most of that without Lebron. I'm not a big believer in that sort of logic, but the main point here is that a deep Lakers run is more likely than a deep Mavs run, AND a Lakers title would be far more painful (for me at least) than a Mavs title.

The Michael Jordan of feet is really gonna be pissed.
Also. The fact that Lebron went to two doctors who said he needed surgery, but then the “LeBron James” of feet said otherwise. Makes me think he kept going to doctor after doctor till he got the opinion he liked.

also. So many Rex Ryan jokes in the replies

Makes me think he's full of shit, and just wanted everyone to love him for playing hurt, while having a built in excuse when it fails because he was hurt.

Remember when he just randomly told everyone he broke his hand after G1 of the NBA Finals, but only told everyone in the press conference after they got swept?

Yikes, being a Detroit Pistons fans must be tough sledding. I tried it on tonight. Ugh

Besides Ivey & Duran they have nothing

James Wisemen is complete garbage and Eugene Omoruyi may be the worst NBA player I've seen in years.

Troy Weaver has done nothing with this franchise

I don't disagree, but next year they could add healthy Cade and Wemby.

Cade, Ivey, and Duren is a good young core with tremendous upside. Add a top three pick, sprinkle in some role playing vets, and you’ve got the makings of a good team. Add a top tier FA, and they could be teal good.

The low cost gambles on Wiseman and Bagley were ok, but in general, Weaver has been a bad.

The Laker and Lebron hot takes are off the charts in here today
I am probably one of the few LeBron fans (maybe fan is a bit much, non hater I guess) around here, but if we can't have LeBron and Laker hot takes in a Boston Celtics forum, we would 100% be doing it wrong.

Disappointing that we didn’t get Jokic-Joel tonight, but Celtics fans can take solace that (at least) the 2 seed is all but locked up. Now we have to worry about Cleveland vaulting to 3.

For all the whining that Philly does about Embiid not getting MVP credit, him not playing tonight is really fucking weak. Philly had yesterday off, and they don't play tomorrow. What a bunch of fucking babies.

And of course, Denver may just fuck this up anyway.

Denver just got very very lucky that the refs missed Jeff Green being out of bounds. Denver hangs on, but should be embarrassed.

I'm a pretty big Lebron fan (it's somewhat disappointing that he's spent almost his entire career either being on the Lakers or an EC team standing between the Celtics and a deep playoff run, I've had to root against him by default), but all the hot takes are absolutely delicious.

I thought having to face only one of 76ers & Bucks was the goal? I wouldn't mind the Cavs going to 3 seed at all.

Cavs’ net rating is better than Milwaukee’s and Philly’s. The Celtics have real problems with Mitchell and Mobley and Allen are a challenge on the interior. I personally prefer the Philly match-up.

A shame that the Kings couldn’t end their playoff drought in front of their long-suffering fans, but really impressive win by TWolves on the heels of winning last night at GSW.

I agree, but I also think Philly can give Milwaukee problems, so I'd be ok with them facing off 1-4.

Draymond going full blown Draymond on TNT tonight.

Flagrant Foul - deserved
Technical Foul - Not deserved, his 17th likely rescinded.
Offensive Foul - deserved
Replay for a Technical - which wouldn’t be deserved

All within 20 minutes covering 2 possessions.

Edit: Kerr deprives us all by subbing him out of game. Boooo. (But really smart)

The replay for a technical absolutely should have been a technical/double technical. There was a skirmish in which Draymond was an instigator. It’s been that way for years. The first technical was maybe not deserved but shouldn’t be part of the consideration.

Kerr takes him out for a couple minutes. He immediately comes back in and is being peak Draymond. 50% chance he’s thrown out in the second half.

What was the first technical for?
I just saw two clips from the game.
One he throws a completely unnecessary shoulder at Ingram in the open court, then gets in Ingrams way as he goes to the free throw line and gets in his face. This predictably causes a skirmish after which Draymond screams “How?!?!?!” Multiple times at the ref. I think a good amount of players would have been thrown out after that whole display. If this is what you’re saying wasnt deserved then I strongly disagree. He tried to start shit twice and finally was successful the second time

The other he gets “tangled up” with Herb Jones after Herb drew a charge on him which causes another skirmish. This doesn’t warrant a technical because of plausible deniability but knowing Draymond’s MO in those situations…

EDIT: here’s a tweet that has the audio. I struggle to think of another player that would have been allowed in the game after listening to that audio. Marcus Smart got thrown out of the Celtics last game because he dropped a few.f bombs but this is alright?

it’s fucking terrible. I have no idea how the league and the refs haven’t clamped down on him and told him to stop acting like a fucking clown. I honestly don’t know who likes to watch that type of stuff either? It’s like a strange side show car crash with this unhinged weirdo while a basketball game is going on.

It probably doesn’t help that his coach coddles him and manages to compliment him for everything he does (meanwhile he gives lectures to the opposing players about professionalism constantly)

Why are we acting like this is something new? It’s been going on in the playgrounds and in the NBA for decades.
It’s not new. What is new is that players are getting thrown out for it now (see Marcus Smart). For some weird reason it seems like Draymond is exempt from the rules that other players have to live by
