The Jazz are hunting Zion in the half court on every play. He just won't be a top 10 player until he improves on the defensive end.

Nesmith is 3 for 5 from long range against the Knicks, midway through the third quarter.

Why can't the C's ever get shooters like that?

Probably should at least acknowledge what Jokic is doing right now. 40-27-10 tonight in a win against Charlotte. He's averaging 24.5 ppg, 10 rpg, 9 apg and shooting a hilarious 62% from the field. Only player to shoot over 62% and average at least 24 ppg is Wilt, who did it once in 1967.

On 12/3, Dallas embarrassed the Knicks at MSG in a Saturday afternoon game, outscoring them 41-15 in the 3rd en route to a 121-100 final. The usually too slow to change the rotation Thibs responded by benching his former league MVP Derrick Rose, dropping him entirely out of the rotation and going with the ultra-gritty four guard rotation of Brunson, Grimes, Quickley and McBride.

The three non-Brunson pairs all have spectacular defensive numbers and NY has won 7 in a row since, a very strong combined +101 point differential. The young defensive guards will get a nice test next game on Tuesday against Jordan Poole, career high 43 in 35 minutes tonight in Toronto.

He had 16 and 20 tonight….in the first half.

Grimes/Quickley are two of the more underrated players in the NBA. Great job by the Knicks in not using them as scapegoats when the NYKs struggled. They've decided to opt out of the glamour guards (Kemba gone, Fournier bench, Rose bench) and have focused on perimeter defense by challenging passes/3pt shots.

Really wish PBS could have somehow airlifted Quickley out of there when it was rumored he was on the block.

Hornets @ Kings is kind of fun half way through the fourth. Looks like HRB is making some $$$ tonight. Lamelo looks pretty damn healthy too.

Others on here certainly watch them more, but it seems like the Warriors really miss a few role players who were key contributors last year. Notably Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton II, who were both really good defensive players that could guard multiple positions, with decent enough shooting to not screw anything up on the other end. Losing both of those guys, plus Klay moving into a different stage of his career has really turned them into a mediocre team so far this season, and that was with Curry playing at the peak of his ability.

If they can't do anything Curry out these next few weeks, it's going to be rough. The West is really interesting this year if the Warriors continue to struggle, it really opens the door for the Denver/Memphis/New Orleans contingent to emerge as the favorite, with iffy Phoenix and the Clippers lurking. Then you got the Blazers, Jazz and Kings all surprisingly in playoff spots. It's good for the league, lot of new blood and exciting young players taking the next step.

Based on winning % and net rating, my current projections indicate … no one is going to win the NBA championship this year.

We just passed the winter solstice (happy longer days, everyone!) and already the ‘15-16 Warriors 73-9 mark is safe. The Bucks could tie it, but they’d have to go 51-0.

The best net rating in the league currently belongs to … the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Fun season, for sure…

Ha. At the moment, the Bucks* probably have the best balance of talent, experience & coaching
Stay tuned, NBA Intelligentsia's opinion will change in a week.

As much as this Board wants dominance from the Celtics & the Warrior owners want to continue to write checks for wins, parity is good for the NBA

If your Orlando, Indiana, Utah, or OKC you're not throwing in the tanking towel by January.

*oh wait the Cavs beat the Bucks last night, they need to be considered the best!

I like the swagger. Telling like it is.
Yeah. I mean, if the Dubs are compromised this year (still too soon to say), then who else should he be scared of out West? The Pelicans are a nice team but they're in a similar spot as the Grizz. And Ja would be the best player on the court in that series. Ditto for any series with Phoenix. He should be pretty confident about his chances to come out of the West.

Any NBA player worth a thing is going to feel like Morant does. When you’re a star sometimes the bravado shows in your speech. If he didn’t feel this way he wouldn’t be who he is.

I’m over here at the Magic game and Bol Bol is legit. Some fun players and happy to see that Fultz has found a home he seems to like. Watching Pop scream at refs is a good time too.

10th 3 sets the franchise record and wins the game with 2 seconds to go.
Crazy that Herro decided to drop off him at the top of the circle with the clock running down while he still had his dribble. Not the best defensive instincts lol.

When I saw Herro guarding Haliburton with the clock running down, I immediately thought, 'This isn't going to end well for the Heat.' Not sure if Miami has a defensive stopper on the perimeter, but Herro isn't a great option there.

The mind boggling thing is that Herro actually was keeping Tyrese in front of him 5 ft behind the arc and was in tremendous guarding position…..until he inexplicably decided to leave him for Nembhard who seems like he hasn’t hit a shot in 3 weeks since his breakout game.

Steve Nash getting canned hasn't hurt either.
Meh. I am unsure if we can attribute any of this to Vaughn.

Seems like whenever Kevin Durant is playing well and isn't surrounded by sub par players, they win games. This was true last year when Kyrie came back and they closed the season winning 13 of their last 18, and in 19/20 when they had a 17-3 stretch. KD + Kyrie + competent role players = a very good team

I wouldn’t so much credit Vaughn but def lean toward crediting a change away from Nash. Some of the stuff I’ve heard sounds like he lost the team before the season even began.

Harden's take was pretty damning of Nash

“I don’t mean to, like, just down talk to anybody or whatever. It was just, there was no structure and even superstars, they need structure. That’s what allows us to be the best players and leaders for our respective organizations.” Harden said in an interview with Yaron Weitzman of FOX Sports that was published late last week, but which took place in late October, five days before the Nets fired Steve Nash.

Harden (somewhat) disputed that he gave up — aka quit — on the Nets.

“I just feel like internally, things weren’t what I expected when I was trying to get traded there,” he said. “I think everybody knows that. And I knew people were going to talk and say, ‘You quit’ and all that stuff, but then the following summer, the other superstar there [Durant] wanted to leave. So it’s like: Am I still the quitter?”

Is this the same piece where it's insinuated the lack of structure had harden getting away from running the stairs and lifting weights?

I'm here for all the regular season harden, embiid, and doc love.

Not same story. This one is predicated on conjecture, saying Harden could leave Philly or maybe he will stay. ESPN clickbait. Harden is rounding into form and so is Philly. But they are not in Milwaukee or Boston’s league. Or the Nets. Still, helluva conference race in the offing.
