Speaking of the Big East, how does Patrick Ewing still have a job?
Supposedly admin didn't want to pay to buy him out. But that has changed. Expect an announcement any day now.

The batting average on hiring the legendary ex player is well below the Mendoza line (Chris Mullin, Clyde Drexler...).

Georgetown finally comes to their senses and lets Ewing go:

@John_Fanta

BREAKING: Georgetown University announced today that Patrick Ewing will no longer serve as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and that it has begun a national search for new leadership of the program.

DePaul is on an absolutely drunk fairy tale run early in the BET and they're trying to hang on to a lead in the remaining few minutes against Xavier. This tournament has been unbelievable.

The mucky muck
I'm a big UNC fan, but they have no business being in the tournament this year.

Huge disappointment. I was OK when they lost to Kansas last year because I thought they had a great chance of running it back again this year. Boy, I was wrong. A lot of us were.

Better than .500 ACC record used to be enough to get in.
The ACC sucked this year for whatever reason. A couple of 14-6 teams are on the bubble. Hell Duke went 14-6 and is 24-8 and was probably around the 7 line entering the conference tourneys. Normally that record would be like a 3 or 4. UVA is 24-6 and 34th in kenpom; Miami is 25-6 and 40th. Non conference schedules were poor and very few quality wins with some really awful losses for the conference.

If UNC makes it the committee should be disbanded. They don’t deserve shit. Preseason #1 to nothing is pretty epic.
If CBS during the selection show cuts over to a UNC team bracket watch gathering, we'll know the fix is in.

0% chance UNC is getting in. Don't even worry about it.

Honestly I think Pitt may get left out too.

Pitt was #1 seed in ACC with like 2 games to go in regular season when they were 14-4, wild

I can't recall any team ever having a season like this year's Ohio State team. They started 10-3 and were ranked in the top 25, then lost 14 of their next 15 games, before turning it around and winning 5 of their next 6. They're now in the semi-finals of the Big Ten tournament against a very beatable Purdue team. It wouldn't shock me if they end up winning the Big 10 tournament and stealing a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Stanford about to test the ex-player hiring once they announce Madsen coming over from Utah Valley. Done deal from what I hear.

Brett Nelson out at Holy Cross. Thank god.
Cannot fathom why it took them a week to figure this out; a 27-84 record and even if you exclude grad students (HC has no grad schools); something on the order of 15-18 players have left the program since he took over.

He's at least a head coach on the rise -- it's plausible that he'd be a candidate for the job without the Stanford connection. That's the key IMO. Ewing would not have been hired for any other power conference job other than GTown.

Friend who has some connections to Penn State thinks Shrewsberry gets plucked by Georgetown whenever PSU’s NCAA tourney ends.
Or he gets a fatter contract from Nits. I agree he’s gone within two years but Georgetown? He can wait around and do better.

Texas has turned the screws. Look better tonight than they have since December defensively. They need better offense but Hunter and Rice have struggled - hope they get going weekend. And they’re missing they’re probably most critical offensive player in Allen.

They have to give the full time gig to Terry, don't they? He's done a great job. I guess, the question is how he'll recruit.

He was one of their chief recruiters. I have no clue what CDC will do - he wants a big name. If Texas gets upset and doesn’t make the sweet 16/elite 8 I’m not sure they sign him. He’s had some baffling games during conference play.

Last night Marquette held Jordan Hawkins to 5 points on 2-11 shooting and made his life a living hell all night. Tonight, they've held Souley Boum to 1 point on 0-8 shooting through 3/4 of this game.

That might be the best defensive job any team has done all season, just incredible.

Interesting. My favorite thing about him is that his middle name is Urkel

Meaningless big picture, but interesting--I work with some of the support staff down there(equipment room, etc). They all hated Beard(micromanager) and love Terry.
Oh I’m sure. Beard is a psycopath but an amazing coach. That’s a tolerable combo if you win and don’t beat up a woman …

I have a feeling the Texas staff won’t join Beard at Ole Miss.

Georgetown pays pretty good. Ewing was making nearly double than Shrewsberry was making at Penn St. Gotta strike while the iron is hot in the coaching game.
