That really is brutal for Homa. He was, by far, the closest to the hole on 18 today.(8 feet was the previous best)

And he yanks it. And now has to deal with a playoff.

Unreal bad break for Homa there.

Trying to drive the green is the right play for the pros but you open yourself up to randomness like that. Brutal.

Wow, more room for a swing that I thought. What a play.
It wasn't that. It was that he had to hit it away from the green, but he managed to turn the club head at impact and redirect it. To get that shot on the green was amazing - to get it as close as he did was mind-boggling.

It was definitely an incredible shot. He had a few more inches to at least get a swing directed in front of the green than I thought, then of course he had to provide the rest of the angle himself.

Glad he won after the great approach on 18 and great "approach" on 10.

It may only interest me, but I always find these types of video's fun. How would an amateur play on the same layout as a professional event? Soly and Ben from NLU got to play The Concession, which is where this weeks WGC is being played (typically it is in Mexico). I had never heard of the golf course, but apparently it has a reputation of being the most difficult course in Florida.

The two played it recently. They played as far back as they were allowed. It wasn't the tournament tee's but they were still over 7,000 yards. Another caveat is they hit every approach shot and chips off of a mat so they wouldn't tear the place up before the pro's arrived.

Thanks for the link - I surprised myself and watched the whole thing.

Am I right in thinking Spieth isn't in the field this week?
Yeah, Spieth did not qualify. The field is essentially the top 50 in the OWGR a week prior to the event, plus another 15-20 or so guys off the various points/money leaders on various tours (FedEx, Euro, Asian).

Fowler is another notable player who didn't qualify. In Fowler's case, he's likely not going to get into the Masters field either.

Also, Tiger is currently 50th in the world. He wasn't going to play anyway but realizing this was probably the last WGC he'll be qualified for bummed me out.

Bryson triple in-coming...

Nevermind, only a bogey. Shot tracker had a penalty stroke in there, must've been free relief.

I smell a WD coming.....although its no cut so maybe he sticks it out for the paycheck
I kinda want to watch him. He birdied 17 and 18 then tripled 1 and bogeyed 2 so he's +12 through 11. 90 seems to be in play.

I know he WD'd at the Farmers with an "injury" after a bad opening round. Made the cut at the WM and Genesis though so he seems to be OK health wise. Maybe the funky swing means his ugly is really ugly.

Anyone know if Paul Azinger is a member at The Concession? Christ, give it a rest already. It's worse than Mark Rolfing doing an event in Hawaii.

Anyway, liking this place. Guys can go low but if you miss a shot you can make a big number. Segio just made a triple when he hit one under a bush and whiffed with a lefty swing. Fun times.

Oh I don't mind the proudness when he talks about the course, and the local knowledge is a benefit. It's the constant "did you know" type references from the rest of the crew that annoys me.

I'd probably shoot a thousand here. I'd be in the water or those bushes every hole. Not to mention trying to get the ball to stay on the damned green.

Brooks has a stiff neck and is about to go bogey-bogey to start.

Hovland in -5 through 8 after the closing quad yesterday. He’d be -12 in his last 26 holes without it.

It's Saturday, so plenty is up in the air, unless Morikawa continues this pace. If he does, this tourney could be a snoozer tomorrow.

He's got 8 birdies in 12 holes, with 1 bogey. Ridiculous play by him today. And he's got a smooth 5 shot lead right now.

This 13th hole is a pretty insanely great par 5. It is just torture

This course is fantastic. Tomorrow will be a lot of fun.

Apparently a heavy dose of red and black from the players tomorrow.
