For the first time in the history of this pool, over a decade, I sit atop the standings. It will probably not last, but it has been a pretty good run for team johnmd20 over the past few months.

nice having a high pick isnt it.....interested in if you had any high picks in the past (without having to go season by season to check)

I had a high pick ONCE. I think it was 4th. And I picked Louis Ooze and it was one of the worst picks in history.

Other than that, I've usually been at the bottom, late teens.

edit - but this year, my Spieth pick in the 2nd round was huge(#1 player overall) and my Kyoung Lee pick in the 8th round have been excellent thus far. Varner and List have been solid, too. The worst guy I have is my 3rd pick, Dahmen, who just sucks for some reason this year. But he did win a Korn Ferry tourney, so maybe he'll pick it up.

I just took Matthew Wolff 8th...
The Wolff and the Tiger have both been poor picks this year.

In this pool, you can't miss on your first pick because points are hard to come by. This year, I have just been lucky, TBH. There is no skill involved when it comes to me, I just happen to be a big Spieth fan. And all of a sudden, he can golf again.

Kyoung has been an awesome 8th round pick for me. He's scored more this year than most players I have had over full seasons. Again, very lucky, but sometimes you need luck.
And yes I realize that Burns has now overtaken the lead haha

Not a great Saturday for my 3 that made the cut....combined they went -1 on a ridiculously easy course losing ground on everyone.....not comfortable with Burns' 1-shot lead....too many guys on a getable course

KH with the win and should give John the win too....the one time I'm rooting for a missed putt from Burns, he makes it on 18 to cost me 3 points and a potential tie for 1st on the week....oh well I'll take the 18 points I guess for the standings

My bad news bears, ramshackle squad has pulled off 3 wins(one of those a tie) in the last 4 weeks. A historic run that will obviously not last but it has been fun.

Is Jason Day in witness protection or should I offer a reward for the whereabouts of his golf game?

My consistency in picking the absolute worst players in rounds 1 and 2 is breathtaking in it's predictability.

Hey I picked the #1 player in the world and he's yet to get a top 10 for me.

And I'm still kicking your ass. ;)

Don't delude yourself into thinking anything other than you and I will be battling for last place before the year is over.

want to play a fair game.....Sam Burns was credited with 12 points last week (there was no playoff) so he should've received 10 points

I had a 50 year old Major winner.

Of course, I'm guessing he's the only one that got me any points, so I probably lost again.

Should we plan to start the add drop after this weekend to be effective for the US Open? I’ll be out of pocket from the 9th - 15th so I may have trouble getting the standings updated with enough time to complete before the 17th.

Sure. I'll start the thread. To be clear, we add drop now but they don't take effect til after the canadian open. That's what you're saying...

So I am pretty sure I would have had a decent shot at winning this week. Thanks so much Rahm. He goes on my list to never draft again.

Assuming Rahm finishes it out and wins, you would have won the week easily.
Yeah. I am conflicted. Like I don't know how to talk about this without going all V&N, but a quick summary would probably be that I wish he could have just played the final round by himself, the PGA was just following the rules, and Rahm needs to take responsibility for all his decisions.
Oh well, maybe I can finish last in the league.

I have no idea how it works for entry into the US Open, but I can't believe I only had Spieth, Rory, and Kyoung Lee play this weekend. How does a guy like Varner not get an entry into a field of like 5000 golfers?

Hey Vegas, I’m sure we’ll audit it at the end but I’m not seeing my credit for half of the memorial win.

Looks like me and Scotty split this major. I’ve won 1.5 out of 4 major payouts. Hopefully that bodes well for the open.

It's a big field (156) but there aren't a lot of exemptions. It's basically the top 60 players in the OWGR as of two or three weeks before the tournament. Varner's highest ranking this year was 73. There's a few other exemptions (major winners the last 5 years, past US Open champs within the last 10 years, multiple tour wins between Open's, players who made the Tour Championship the previous season), but the only other way in is through qualifying. The qualifying is tough. 36 holes in one day, usually 70-80 players per site for 3-5.

Mickelson wasn't qualified until he won the PGA (but the USGA offered him a special invite).
